Répertoire International De La Presse Musicale
Répertoire international de la presse musicale (Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals, Internationales Repertorium der Musikzeitungen), commonly known as RIPM, provides access to music periodical literature published between 1750 and 1966 through an annotated index, RIPM Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals, and two full-text publication series, RIPM Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals with Full Text and RIPM Preservation Series. RIPM also provides access to full-text jazz publications from 1914 to the 2000s through RIPM Jazz Periodicals. Organization Founded in 1980 by H. Robert Cohen with the collaboration of Marcello Conati, Elvidio Surian, and Christoph-Helmut Mahling, RIPM is one of the four Répertoires (or "R" projects) established by the International Musicological Society (IMS Ims is a Norwegian surname. RIPM Jazz Periodicals
RIPM Jazz Periodicals is a searchable database of full-text, mostly out-of-print, rare jazz periodicals, published by Répertoire international de la presse musicale (Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals), commonly known as RIPM. Updated annually with new full-text journals including full citations, RIPM Jazz Periodicals currently contains 119 American (U.S.) jazz journals and magazines published from 1914 to 2010. Christoph-Hellmut Mahling
Christoph-Hellmut Mahling (25 May 1932 – 13 February 2012) was a German musicologist and lecturer at various universities. Life and career Born in Berlin, Mahling studied musicology by Walter Gerstenberg, Georg Reichert, Joseph Müller-Blattau, and Walter Salmen at the University of Tübingen and the Saarland University (Saarbrücken) from 1957 to 1962. In 1962 he obtained his doctorate of phil. (Dissertation: ''Studien zur Geschichte des Opernchors'') and became assistant at the Musicological Institute of the Saarland University in 1963. In 1972, he won his habilitation there with Walter Wiora for the subject Musicology (Habil.-Schrift: ''Orchester und Orchester-Musiker in Deutschland von 1700 bis 1850''). In the same year he was appointed Scientific Councilor and Professor. International Musicological Society
The International Musicological Society (IMS) is a membership-based organisation for musicology at the international level, with headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. It seeks the advancement of musicological research through international cooperation. Overview The International Musicological Society was founded on 30 September 1927 on the initiative of Henry Prunières, during the celebration of the centenary of the death of Ludwig van Beethoven. His proposal aimed to resurrect the International Music Society, which had dissolved in 1914, and was met with great interest.
