Russell Islands
:''See also Russell Island (other).'' The Russell Islands are two small islands ( Pavuvu and Mbanika), as well as several islets, of volcanic origin, in the Central Province of Solomon Islands. They are located approximately northwest of Guadalcanal. The islands are partially covered in coconut plantations, and have a copra and oil factory at Yandina (on Mbanika). Yandina also has basic services, including a store, post office, and airport. People The Lavukal people live on these islands. Their language is Lavukaleve. There is also a settlement of Polynesians, resettled from Tikopia, that lives in Nukufero on the west side of the larger island, Pavuvu. In 1956 the Levers Pacific Plantations company donated 80 acres for use for this resettlement, and later added another 125 acres in the 1960s. __NOTOC__ Russell City (also known as Russell) was an unincorporated community in Alameda County, California, United States, about south of Oakland in present-day Hayward. The land is at an elevation of 16 feet (5 m). Russell City existed from 1853 until 1964, when the last of the residents were forced out to make way for an industrial park, with such parks dominating the area to this day. While the residents fought removal, many of the buildings were destroyed in arson fires. Russell is an unincorporated urban community in the Municipality of Russell-Binscarth in Manitoba, Canada. It is located along PTH 16 and PTH 83, and is at the western terminus of PTH 45. Russell is approximately east of the Saskatchewan border and northwest of Winnipeg. The community is home to 1,611 people as of the 2011 census. The community was designated as a town prior to 1 January 2015, when it and the nearby Village of Binscarth amalgamated with the Rural Municipality of Russell.
