Rurouni Kenshin (2012 Film)
, also known as ''Rurouni Kenshin Part I: Origins'' in North America, is a 2012 Japanese ''jidaigeki'' action film based on the Rurouni Kenshin, manga of the same name written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki. Directed by Keishi Ōtomo, the film stars Takeru Satoh and Emi Takei. It focuses on fictional events that take place during the early Meiji era in Japan, telling the story of a countryside wanderer named Himura Kenshin, a former assassin who now offers aid to those in need as atonement for the murders he once committed, as he helps a dojo owner and protects a woman from a ruthless drug lord. Rumors circulated of a live-action adaptation of the manga before it was announced. Keishi Ōtomo
is a Japanese film director and screenwriter. He is known for psychological thrillers and historical dramas, as well as adapting a variety of manga and novels to film, including ''The Vulture'' (2009), ''Ryōmaden'' (2010), and the ''Rurouni Kenshin'' film series. Ōtomo’s awards include the Audience Award at the 18th Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal (2014), the Popularity Award at the 38th Japan Academy Film Prize, Japanese Academy Awards (2014), and Best Director at the 31st Japanese Critics Award (2022). Early life Ōtomo was born on May 6, 1966, in Morioka, Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. He graduated from Morioka First High School before moving to Tokyo in 1986 to study at the Faculty of Law at Keio University. Opium (also known as poppy tears, or Lachryma papaveris) is the dried latex obtained from the seed Capsule (fruit), capsules of the opium poppy ''Papaver somniferum''. Approximately 12 percent of opium is made up of the analgesic alkaloid morphine, which is processed chemically to produce heroin and other synthetic opioids for medicinal use and for the illegal drug trade. Opium's main psychoactive alkaloids, primarily morphine, act on μ-opioid receptors, causing analgesia and addiction with long-term use leading to tolerance, dependence, and increased cancer risk. Takani Megumi
The manga series ''Rurouni Kenshin'' features a large cast of character (arts), fictional characters created by Nobuhiro Watsuki. Set in Japan during the Meiji period, several of the characters are real historical figures who interact with the fictional characters. The story begins in 1878 and follows a pacifist wanderer named Himura Kenshin, who was previously an assassin known as "''Hitokiri Battōsai''" working for the Shishi (organization), Ishin Shishi during the Bakumatsu period.
