Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park
The Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park () was built for the Rowing at the 2008 Summer Olympics, rowing, Canoeing at the 2008 Summer Olympics, canoeing and Swimming at the 2008 Summer Olympics, 10 km open-water swimming events in the 2008 Summer Olympics. It is located in Mapo Village in the Shunyi District in Beijing. The first competitions at the venue were held in August 2007, a year ahead of the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2008 Olympic Games for which it was built. The World Junior Rowing Championships, China Open Canoe/Kayak Slalom and China Canoe/Kayak Flatwater Open were all held in that month as part of the "Good Luck Beijing" series of sporting events. Scott A. Frandsen (born 21 July 1980) is a Canadian rower of Danish and Swedish descent. Biography Born in Kelowna, British Columbia, he began rowing at age 16 at Brentwood College School, in Mill Bay, British Columbia. He crewed for four years at the University of California, Berkeley. His freshman boat in 1999, coached by Craig Amerkhanian, finished second at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association championship, which serves as the national championship race for men's collegiate rowing in the United States. In 2000, 2001, and 2002, he was in the varsity eight man crew, which won the IRA championship each year. In 2000 and 2001, his boats were undefeated and are considered by many as the fastest collegiate boats ever. In 2003, he went to St Edmund Hall, Oxford, for graduate work. David Calder (rower)
David C D Calder (born May 21, 1978) is a Canadian rower. A four-time Olympian, he is a 2008 Olympics silver medallist in the men's coxless pair rowing event along with Scott Frandsen. Biography Born in Brandon, Manitoba, he attended Brentwood College School in Mill Bay, British Columbia. He participated in three consecutive World Rowing Junior Championships, winning bronze at the 1994 men's four event, and winning gold at the 1996 men's pair event. He set the British Columbia 2000 metre ergometer record at the Junior A (Under-19) level with a time of 5:59.9 in 1996, and graduated from Brentwood the same year. Duncan Seth Free (born 25 May 1973) is a retired Australian rower and Olympic gold medallist. He is 4-time Olympian and two-time world champion who represented Australia at four world rowing championships in both sculls and sweep oared boats. He was a six-time Australian national sculling champion. Rowing family Free was born in Hobart, Tasmania. His father Reg Free rowed in numerous King's Cup crews for Tasmania from 1962 and in 1967, became the first Tasmanian oarsman selected to row in the Australian men's eight when they competed by invitation at the 1967 European Rowing Championships in Vichy, France. Drew Cameron Ginn Order of Australia, OAM (born 20 November 1974) is an Australian five-time world champion Rowing (sport), rower, a four time Olympian and triple Olympic gold medallist. From 1995 to 1998 he was a member of Australia's prominent world class crew – the coxless four known as the Oarsome Foursome. Julien Bruno Paul Bahain (born 20 April 1986) is a rower of French/Canadian origin. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he won a bronze medal in the quadruple sculls with Jonathan Coeffic, Pierre-Jean Peltier and Cédric Berrest.
