Sea Forest Waterway
The is a regatta venue for rowing (sport), rowing and canoeing, situated in Kōtō and Ōta, Tokyo, Ōta, Tokyo Bay, in Japan. History The venue was built for the 2020 Summer Olympics and 2020 Summer Paralympics, Paralympic Games. Construction began in 2016 and it was inaugurated in June 2019. It was built by Tokyo Metropolitan Government on the waterfront site and is the only rowing venue in Tokyo that meets international standards. The first international event that was held here were the 2019 World Rowing Junior Championships. Rowing at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Olympic rowing events are held from 23 to 30 July 2021. The hopes to be able to continue to maintain it after the Olympics. In January 2021, it was reported that oysters were attaching themselves to the floats used to suppress waves in the venue, resulting in 140 million yen (US$1.3 million) in costs to remove them. Benjamin Pritchard (born 15 March 1992) is a British para-rower. He won the gold medal in the men's PR1 single sculls at the 2024 Summer Paralympics. Pritchard also won gold at the 2025 European Rowing Championships, setting a world record in the process. Javier Reja Muñoz (born 20 July 1974) is a Spanish Paralympic rower and former paracanoeist. He competed in paracanoe at the 2016 Summer Paralympics and rowing at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Accident In 2006, Reja was riding his motorcycle to the Seville airport, he overtook a tractor and skidded along the gravel. He bounced off and got trapped between a tree and the motorbike's engine, his leg injuries were serious and had to undergo several operations along with two months in hospital to recover. After leaving hospital, he was medically advised to swim and he went on to win medals in the Spanish national swimming championships, as well as swimming, he tried out weightlifting, triathlon and cycling and he won several national cycling medals. Roman Polianskyi
Roman Polianskyi (; born September 1, 1986) is a Ukrainian pararower. He is the 2016 and 2020 Summer Paralympics gold medalist in the men's single sculls. Early life Polianskyi is originally from the village Khanzhenkovo near Makiivka in the Donetsk Province of Ukraine. He started doing sports at the age of four, at the urging of his father. Polianskyi started experiencing symptoms of Strumpell disease at the age of ten. He moved to Odesa in spring 2014, at the start of the 2014 pro-Russian unrest in Ukraine. Polianskyi was training in rowing for two years prior to the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. During that time he trained with coach Yuri Bondarenko in Dnipro. When Polianskyi was 18, his father died from a mining accident; his mother died two years later. Polianskyi has a younger sister. Polianskyi now uses a wheelchair.
