Rowing At The 2004 Summer Olympics – Men's Coxless Pair
Men's coxless pair competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. This rowing event was a sweep event, meaning that each rower has one oar and rows on only one side. Two rowers crewed each boat, with no coxswain. The competition consists of multiple rounds. Finals were held to determine the placing of each boat; these finals were given letters with those nearer to the beginning of the alphabet meaning a better ranking. Semifinals were named based on which finals they fed, with each semifinal having two possible finals. Heats *SF denotes qualification to Semifinal. *R denotes qualification to Repechage. Drew Ginn
Drew Cameron Ginn Order of Australia, OAM (born 20 November 1974) is an Australian five-time world champion Rowing (sport), rower, a four time Olympian and triple Olympic gold medallist. From 1995 to 1998 he was a member of Australia's prominent world class crew – the coxless four known as the Oarsome Foursome. Club and state rowing Ginn was educated at Scotch College, Melbourne where he took up rowing. His senior club rowing was done from the Mercantile Rowing Club in Melbourne. His first state selection for Victoria came in the 1993 youth eight contesting the Noel Wilkinson Trophy in the Interstate Regatta at the Australian Rowing Championships. Christopher Jarvis (born September 10, 1980) is a Canadian rower. He was born in Burlington, Ontario and competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens Greece. He is the founder of a Canada-based charity known as "I Challenge Diabetes" and provides significant grass roots support to the Canadian Public. David C D Calder (born May 21, 1978) is a Canadian rower. A four-time Olympian, he is a 2008 Olympics silver medallist in the men's coxless pair rowing event along with Scott Frandsen. Biography Born in Brandon, Manitoba, he attended Brentwood College School in Mill Bay, British Columbia. He participated in three consecutive World Rowing Junior Championships, winning bronze at the 1994 men's four event, and winning gold at the 1996 men's pair event. He set the British Columbia 2000 metre ergometer record at the Junior A (Under-19) level with a time of 5:59.9 in 1996, and graduated from Brentwood the same year. George Bridgewater
George Spencer Bridgewater (born 18 January 1983) is a former New Zealand rower who competed in the pair at international level with Nathan Twaddle. The pair began representing New Zealand together in 2004 and won bronze medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Bridgewater went to his third Summer Olympics in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. Robert Nathan Twaddle (born 21 August 1976) is a New Zealand former rower and Olympic medallist. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, in the coxless pair rowing with his partner George Bridgewater and won a bronze medal. The pair began representing New Zealand together in 2004 and won bronze medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Twaddle was born in Whakatane, New Zealand.
