Rorschach–St. Gallen Railway Line
The Rorschach–St. Gallen railway line is a standard gauge railway line in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen and belongs to the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The 15 kilometre-long line was opened on 25 October 1856 by the (SAGE) and follows its original course, except for the tunnel between St. Gallen and St. Gallen St. Fiden and a little curve straightening. The line ran from Rorschach Hafen station to St. Gallen, with trains having to reverse in Rorschach. History The (SGAE) had opened St. Gallen–Winterthur railway line, its line between and between October 1855 and March 1856. It completed a further extension from St. Gallen to via on 25 October 1856. The Ae 6/6 is a Swiss locomotive and railcar classification, class of heavy electric locomotive used by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). It is sometimes also referred to as "cantons of Switzerland, canton locomotive" (), because the first 25 locomotives (a 26th was renamed after the separation of canton of Jura, Jura) were named after the cantons of Switzerland and carried the canton's coat of arms on the side and chrome plating, chrome embellishments (a single raised stripe on each side and three raised stripes on each end), and the Swiss coat of arms on the front, between the chrome stripes. The InterRegio, often shortened to IR, is a train categories in Europe, train category for mainly domestic train services in use in some European countries, with Swiss Federal Railways operating the most dense network.
