Latin Rite
Latin liturgical rites, or Western liturgical rites, are Catholic rites of public worship employed by the Latin Church, the largest particular church '' sui iuris'' of the Catholic Church, that originated in Europe where the Latin language once dominated. Its language is now known as Ecclesiastical Latin. The most used rite is the Roman Rite. The Latin rites were for many centuries no less numerous than the liturgical rites of the Eastern autonomous particular churches. Their number is now much reduced. In church governance, a diocese or bishopric is the ecclesiastical district under the jurisdiction of a bishop. Isaías Duarte Cancino
Monsignor Isaías Duarte Cancino (San Gil, Santander, February 15, 1939 - Cali, Valle del Cauca, March 16, 2002) was a Colombian Catholic priest, who from 1995 until the day of his death was archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cali. In 2012 Colombian justice determined that it was the commander of the Eastern Bloc of the FARC who gave the order to assassinate Duarte. But the commanders were exonerated in March 2013 by a judge of the High Court of Cali.
