A reedbed or reed bed is a natural habitat found in floodplains, waterlogged depressions and estuaries. Reedbeds are part of a succession from young reeds colonising open water or wet ground through a gradation of increasingly dry ground. As reedbeds age, they build up a considerable litter layer that eventually rises above the water level and that ultimately provides opportunities in the form of new areas for larger terrestrial plants such as shrubs and trees to colonise. Patrick Roest (; born 7 December 1995) is a Dutch professional long track speed skater who has won the World Allround Speed Skating Championships three times. He leads the adelskalender, an all-time ranking of skaters' personal bests. He is a member of the commercial team of Team Reggeborgh. Career In Bjugn Municipality, Norway, in 2014, Roest became World Junior Champion Allround, and he successfully defended his world title in 2015 in Warsaw, Poland. Theodorus Marinus Roest (14 April 1832, Dongen – 2 September 1898 Baden-Baden) was a Dutch numismatist and conservator of the numismatic collection of the Teylers Museum. In 1872 he was appointed ''associé étranger'' of the ''Sociéte royale de numismatique'', and became publisher of ''Reveu de la numismatique belge''. He became an authority on numismatics. In 1876 he became director of the Academisch Penningkabinet in Leiden. In 1881 he resigned when that cabinet was absorbed into the '' Royal cabinet of medals'' (which today is part of the :nl:Geldmuseum in Utrecht). Through the efforts of the archivist of the city of Haarlem Adriaan Justus Enschedé, Roest was hired to catalog the collection of the Teylers Museum. Theodorus Marinus Roest van Limburg (8 July 1806, in Rotterdam – 3 March 1887, in Florence) was a Dutch journalist, diplomat, and politician. Early life Theodorus Marinus was the son of Jacob Adriaan Roest van Limburg, merchant in wine at Rotterdam and Antwerpen, and Sara Cornelia Rochussen. He studied law in Liège, Ghent and Leiden (1827-1831). Career He worked at the Departments of Colonies and Foreign Affairs. From 1837 till 1841 he served as editor of the liberal newspaper ''Arnhemsche Courant''. His diplomatic career started in 1842, when he was named secretary of the Dutch Legation in Vienna. From 1851-1856 he served as Chargé d’affaires in Lisbon and he became Envoy in Washington, serving from 1856 until 1868. Roest van Limburg became Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1868.
