Roberto Álvarez (diplomat)
Roberto Teodoro Álvarez Gil (born in Santo Domingo on June 7, 1944) is a Dominican lawyer and diplomat. He became Foreign Minister of the Dominican Republic, in the government of President Luis Abinader in August 16, 2020. He is also a researcher and author of publications on human rights and international relations. In 2005, he was Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the Organization of American States. Biography Álvarez graduated with a doctorate in Law from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo and earned a Master's in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University and Comparative Law from Georgetown University. In 1979, he visited Argentina as part of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, an organization that investigated the Trujillo regime in 1976. Roberto Marcelo Álvarez (born 23 February 1971) is an Argentine former professional tennis player. Álvarez competed on tour in the 1990s and early 2000s, reaching a best singles ranking of 288 in the world. His only ATP Tour main draw appearances came at Bordeaux in 1992, where he lost in the first round to the eighth-seed Fabrice Santoro. He featured twice in the singles qualifying draw at Wimbledon and in 2002 won an ATP Challenger doubles titles in Trani. Following his retirement he coached French tennis player Florent Serra Florent Lucien Serra (; born 28 February 1981) is a French retired professional tennis player. Roberto Álvarez Ríos
Roberto Jesús Álvarez Ríos (17 September 1932 – 16 December 2015) was a Cuban artist who specialised in painting and drawing. Between 1951 and 1955, Alvarez studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes "San Alejandro" in Havana. In 1958, he studied drawing and painting in the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. Álvarez Ríos died in Saint-Benoît, Réunion on 16 December 2015, at the age of 83. Roberto Álvarez Álvarez (1 October 1942 – 26 June 2023) was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder, and later worked as a coach. Playing career Born in Villamartín de Sil, Páramo del Sil, El Bierzo, León, Álvarez started his senior career with SD Ponferradina in 1962, in Tercera División. After a spell at Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, he moved to Segunda División side CD Mestalla in 1965. Álvarez made his professional debut on 28 December 1965, starting and scoring his side's third goal through a penalty kick in a 3–3 home draw against Recreativo de Huelva. He appeared rarely for the club during his two-year spell, and subsequently joined CD Tenerife before retiring. Managerial career Álvarez started his managerial career with Levante UD in 1988, taking the side back to the second tier after an absence of seven years at first attempt.
