Richard Francis Evelyn Walsh (born 8 December 1952) is an English actor, best known for playing fireman Bert "Sicknote" Quigley in the long-running ITV (TV network), ITV drama series ''London's Burning (TV series), London's Burning'' from 1986 to 2000. He has also appeared in other well-known British television shows, including ''Midsomer Murders'', ''Doctors (2000 TV series), Doctors'' and ''Heartbeat (UK TV series), Heartbeat''. He also took part in a fire safety campaign in 1997 promoting smoke detectors. He was born in Lewisham, London, and is married to fellow actress Sarah Keller. They have one son, named James. Richard Walsh (born John Richard Walsh; born 21 July 1941) is an Australian publisher, editor, company director, media consultant, lecturer, broadcaster and journalist. For many years he ran the publishing and bookselling firm Angus & Robertson and later he headed the media company Australian Consolidated Press. In those roles he was "one of the most dominant figures in Australian publishing from the early seventies". Education, ''OZ'' magazine Richard Walsh was educated at Barker College and the University of Sydney and graduated with degrees in arts and medicine. He never practised medicine, but instead became a copywriter at advertising firm J. Walter Thompson. Sir Richard Walsh was an English politician who served as High Sheriff of Worcestershire and is noted for his role in defeating Robert Catesby's remaining followers at Holbeche House following the failure of the Gunpowder Plot. He came from Shelsley Walsh. Gunpowder Plot After Guy Fawkes was captured in the basement of the Houses of Parliament, many of his fellow plotters, under the leadership of Robert Catesby, fled to the Midlands. Walsh and his 200-strong force of Worcestershire Trained Bands began following the conspirators after they entered Worcestershire and caught up with them at Holbeche House in Staffordshire on 8 November. Among those in Walsh's force was John Streete, the noted marksman from Worcester, who at one point killed two plotters with a single shot. The conspirators made two major errors: they got their gunpowder wet and then tried to dry it in front of the fire, causing it to blow up. Richard Walsh (born 1 December 1988) is an Australian Mixed martial arts, mixed martial artist. He previously competed in the Welterweight (MMA), Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC. He was also a semi-finalist on ''The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia, The Ultimate Fighter: Canada vs. Australia''. Background Walsh graduated from Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview, St. Ignatius College in Sydney in 2006. He went on to complete a bachelor's degree in construction at the University of New South Wales before going to study abroad at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Richard Walsh (1889 – 4 December 1957) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician. In 1913 Richard Walsh and Michael Kilroy were the main organizers of the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) in south and western Mayo. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Mayo South constituency at the September 1927 general election. Walsh was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota Saint Paul (often abbreviated St. Paul) is the List of capitals in the United States, capital city of the U.S. state of Minnesota and the county seat of Ramsey County, Minnesota, Ramsey County. Richard Hussey Walsh (1825–1862) was an Irish political economist and colonial official. Life He was the fifth son of John Hussey Walsh of Kilduff, King's County, and his wife Maria, daughter of Michael Henley of La Mancha, County Dublin; his grandmother Margaret was the daughter and heiress of John Hussey of Mull Hussey, County Roscommon. Richard was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, where he graduated B.A. in 1847, taking honours in mathematics and physics; in 1848 he won the senior mathematical prize founded by John Law. On 5 May 1848 Walsh was admitted to Lincoln's Inn, but did not pursue the study of law. A Roman Catholic, he was precluded from a fellowship at Trinity College, and turned to political economy and the chance of competing for the Whately professorship. Richard (Dick) "Drug" Walsh (30 December 1877 – 28 July 1958) was an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Kilkenny county team. Born in Mooncoin, County Kilkenny, Walsh first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-four when he first linked up with the Kilkenny senior team. He made his senior debut during the 1904 championship. Walsh immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won seven All-Ireland medals and seven Leinster medals. His idol was ‘Big Joe’ Scullion with the diabetes and the bad leg from the North. It’s said he took the nickname ‘Drug’ because Big Joe took a lot of ibuprofen for the bad leg. Richard Bishop Walsh Jr. (October 30, 1925 – May 6, 2011) was an American professional sports and events industry executive who, during a 50-plus year career, held high-level positions in Major League Baseball, professional soccer (he was the first commissioner of the North American Soccer League), and in convention center management. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, spent his early years in Evanston, Illinois, and moved to Los Angeles with his family as a boy.
