Richard Cole
Richard Cole (2 January 1946 – 2 December 2021) was an English music manager, who was involved in the rock music business from the mid-1960s to 2003. He is most known for having been the tour manager of English rock band Led Zeppelin from 1968 to 1980. Early career Cole was born in Kensal Rise, in the north London borough of Brent. His father was an architect who worked for Rolls-Royce vehicle design, and later in aircraft assembly during World War II. At the age of 12, Cole became interested in music after hearing Elvis Presley and The Everly Brothers. He left school aged 15, and from his first job, working at a dairy factory in Acton, earned enough money to purchase a drumkit, on which he practiced along with Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa records. The low wages forced Cole to take up an apprenticeship in sheet-metal working whilst also working as a scaffolder on construction sites. Richard Cole (1568 – 19 April 1614) of Bucks (anciently ''Bokish, Buckish, Bochewis, Bokeishe'' Pole, Sir William (d.1635), Collections Towards a Description of the County of Devon, Sir John-William de la Pole (ed.), London, 1791, p.372 etc., now represented by Bucks Mills and Bucks Cross) in the parish of Woolfardisworthy in North Devon, and of Slade in the parish of Cornwood, South Devon, was a member of the Devonshire gentry whose large monument with effigy survives in All Hallows Church, Woolfardisworthy. Certain modern sources link him (without much justification) to Old King Cole in the synonymous Nursery rhyme. Cole sat in the Irish House of Commons as the Member of Parliament for St Canice from 1707 to 1713, before representing Enniskillen Enniskillen ( , from , ' Ceithlenn's island') is the largest town in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Richie Cole (February 29, 1948 – May 2, 2020) was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and arranger. Early life Cole was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He began to play alto saxophone when he was ten years old, encouraged by his father, who owned a jazz club in New Jersey. He was a graduate of Ewing High School, in Ewing Township, New Jersey. Cole won a scholarship from ''DownBeat'' magazine to attend the Berklee School of Music in Boston. Career In 1969, he joined drummer Buddy Rich's Big Band. After working with Lionel Hampton's Big Band and Doc Severinsen's Big Band, he formed his own quintet and toured worldwide, developing his own "alto madness" bebop style in the 1970s and early 1980s. He formed the Alto Madness Orchestra in the 1990s. Richard Cole (born 15 July 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer for the Collingwood and Essendon Football Clubs in the Australian Football League. Cole was a half-back flanker and was drafted by Collingwood at pick 11 of the 2001 national draft. 2004 2004 was designated as an International Year of Rice by the United Nations, and the International Year to Commemorate the Struggle Against Slavery and Its Abolition (by UNESCO). Richard Cole (also known as "Tricky Dicky") is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'', played by Ian Reddington between 23 July 1992 and 21 July 1994. Creation and development Producers Leonard Lewis and Helen Greaves took over control of ''EastEnders'' in 1992 and introduced a number of new characters. Richard Roy Cole (May 6, 1926 – October 18, 2018) was an American Major League Baseball infielder. Before the season, Cole was signed as an amateur free agent by the St. Louis Cardinals. Over eight years later, he made his debut with the Cardinals, but was traded after only 15 games of service to the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he would spend the majority of his career. Cole was used at three different positions during his career, playing 169 games at shortstop, 118 games at second base, and 107 games at third. In Cole's only full season, , he grounded into 20 double plays, which was enough to tie for the second highest total in the National League with Stan Musial, only being topped by Del Ennis with 23. However, Cole hit .270, along with 22 doubles, 5 triples, and 40 RBI in 138 games. Dick Cole (born 6 April 1967) is a Cornish politician, currently serving as an elected member of Cornwall Council and the leader of the Cornish devolutionist political party, Mebyon Kernow, a role he has held since 1997. He is currently one of the longest serving political leaders in Britain. Dick Cole was first elected MK leader in 1997. Early life Cole grew up in Cornwall on the edge of the Goss Moor and was educated at Treviglas School, Newquay and University of Wales, Lampeter. Political career Before becoming party leader in 1997, Cole had been Mebyon Kernow's press officer for the previous five years. Dick Cole is a heroic cadet at the fictional Farr Military Academy. The character was introduced in the "Origin of Dick Cole," in the first issue of Novelty Press' '' Blue Bolt Comics'' (cover-dated June 1940). Publication history Billed as "America's Number One School Star", Dick Cole starred in a backup feature in Novelty Press' ''Blue Bolt'' (and later ''4 Most''), with regular stories about the young hero appearing until 1949.
