Rich Coady (defensive Back)
Richard Joseph Coady, IV (born January 26, 1976) is a former American football safety who played in the National Football League (NFL). His father Rich Coady played in the NFL for the Chicago Bears. High school years Coady attended J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas and was a student and a letterman in football and basketball. In football, as a senior, he was named his team's Most Valuable Player and was an All-District selection and an All-Metroplex selection. College Coady attended Texas A&M University, where he was a three-year starter for the Aggies. Originally came to Texas A&M as a non-scholarship athlete and worked his way into the starting lineup, starting 39 games in a row and becoming an integral part of the Aggies' 1998 Big 12 Conference championship team. Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. 1999 NFL Draft
The 1999 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held April 17–18, 1999, at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. The league also held a supplemental draft after the regular draft and before the regular season. Five quarterbacks were selected in the first round — Tim Couch, Donovan McNabb, Akili Smith, Daunte Culpepper, and Cade McNown — the second most (along with the 2018 and 2021 drafts) after the 1983 NFL Draft.
