''Reputation and Rarities'' is the name of a repackaged/re-released version of British singer Dusty Springfield's 1990 studio album, ''Reputation''. Background In late 1987, there was a resurgence of interest in Springfield's career, which was a direct result of her work with Pet Shop Boys on the duet " What Have I Done to Deserve This?", released in November of the same year. The single reached #2 in the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and #2 in the UK Singles Chart, Springfield's highest simultaneous charting single ever. Springfield then worked with Pet Shop Boys on two further solo singles "Nothing Has Been Proved", originally from the film ''Scandal'', and "In Private", both UK Top 20 hits for Springfield in 1989. The culmination of Springfield's new success was the album ''Reputation'', released in 1990. Dusty Springfield
Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien (16 April 1939 – 2 March 1999), known professionally as Dusty Springfield, was an English singer. With her distinctive mezzo-soprano sound, she was a popular singer of blue-eyed soul, pop and dramatic ballads, with French chanson, country, and jazz also in her repertoire. During her 1960s peak, she ranked among the most successful British female performers on both sides of the Atlantic. Her image – marked by a peroxide blonde bouffant/beehive hairstyle, heavy makeup (thick black eyeliner and eye shadow) and evening gowns, as well as stylised, gestural performances – made her an icon of the Swinging Sixties. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data. Jeanette Obstoj
Jeannette-Thérèse Obstoj (5 June 194926 March 2015) was a British lyricist, video-maker, music video director, poet and graphic artist. She is best known for her work as a lyricist, usually working in collaboration with musician Rupert Hine. The Hine/Obstoj team wrote songs for Tina Turner ("I Might Have Been Queen", " Break Every Rule"), Dusty Springfield (" Arrested by You"), and Wilson Phillips ("Eyes Like Twins"), as well as writing all the songs on Hine's solo albums ''Immunity, Waving Not Drowning'' and ''Wildest Wish to Fly'', and on the three albums Hine released using the identity Thinkman. Obstoj also occasionally wrote lyrics for songs by The Fixx, including their 1986 hit " Secret Separation", with music for these tracks being credited to the band as a whole. Rupert Hine
Rupert Neville Hine (21 September 1947 – 4 June 2020) was an English musician, songwriter and record producer. He produced albums for artists including Rush, Kevin Ayers, Tina Turner, Howard Jones, Saga, the Fixx, Bob Geldof, Thompson Twins, Stevie Nicks, Chris de Burgh, Suzanne Vega, Underworld, Duncan Sheik, Formula and Eleanor McEvoy. Additionally, Hine recorded eleven albums, including those billed under his own name, the pseudo-band name Thinkman, and as a member of the band Quantum Jump; with the latter, he achieved a number 5 hit on the UK Singles Chart in 1979, "The Lone Ranger". Lauren Wood (born Ilene Rappaport in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), also known as Chunky, is an American singer-songwriter, voice-over artist, and producer. Alta Sherral "Allee" Willis (November 10, 1947 – December 24, 2019) was an American songwriter, multi-media artist, collector, and art director. Diane Eve Warren (born September 7, 1956) is an American songwriter. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. "In Private" is a song by British singer Dusty Springfield, released as a single on 20 November 1989. It was Springfield's third single in a row to be a chart success, after an absence of nearly two decades from the charts. Both "In Private" and Springfield's previous single, "Nothing Has Been Proved" were produced by Pet Shop Boys, who helped return Springfield to prominence with their 1987 hit collaboration " What Have I Done to Deserve This?". Both Springfield singles were included on her 1990 British album ''Reputation''. Releases and chart performances "In Private" peaked at #14 in the British charts. It was a top ten hit in West Germany, the Netherlands, Israel, Belgium and Sweden.
