The Reina Sofía School of Music (Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Spanish) is a private music school founded in Madrid, Spain, in 1991 by Paloma O'Shea. It belongs to the Albéniz Foundation, and it bears the name of its Honorary President, Queen Sofía of Spain. History The School was founded by Paloma O'Shea in 1991 in Madrid, in order to provide Spain with a high performance training centre for young musicians and to carry out activities to bring Classical music to the larger public. The inception of the School can be found in the Paloma O'Shea International Piano Competition, Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition, which Paloma O’Shea created in 1972, and in the masterclasses organised by her from 1981 on in collaboration with Universidad Internacional de Verano Menéndez Pelayo, also in Santander. Eldar Nebolsin (born 1974) is an Uzbek-born classical pianist. Fibonacci Quartet
The Fibonacci Quartet is an international string quartet ensemble, comprising players of Czech, Belgian, Welsh and Scottish nationalities. History The Fibonacci Quartet was formed in 2019 and consists of students of David Takeno (Eugène Ysaÿe International Chair of Violin), Matthew Jones, and Louise Hopkins at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, UK. Cuarteto Casals
The Casals Quartet (''Cuarteto Casals'') is a Spanish string quartet based at l'Auditori in Barcelona, where all four members reside and teach at the Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya. Formation The Cuarteto Casals was founded at the Reina Sofía School of Music, Madrid, in 1997 under Professor Antonello Farulli. They studied with Walter Levin and Rainer Schmidt in Barcelona, as well as undertaking graduate work in Cologne under the Alban Berg Quartet and Harald Schoneweg. The group is named for the well-known 20th-century cellist Pablo Casals. Asier Polo is a Spanish cellist. Biography Polo was born in Bilbao, Spain where he studied at the Conservatory of Music with Professor Elisa Pascu. In 1987-89, he won first prizes in cello and chamber music at the National Young Musicians Competition. Francisco Araiza
José Francisco Araiza Andrade (born 4 October 1950) is a Mexican operatic tenor and lied singer who has sung as soloist in leading concert halls and in leading tenor operatic roles in the major opera houses of Europe and North America during the course of a lengthy career. Born in Mexico City, he studied singing at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música de México and later in Germany, with Mozartian tenor Richard Holm, and lieder interpretation with Erik Werba. He made his operatic debut in 1970 in Mexico City as First Prisoner in Beethoven's ''Fidelio''.
