Refugees In Cameroon
As of 31 August 2020, Cameroon hosted a total refugee population of approximately 421,700. Of these, 280,500 were from the Central African Republic, driven by war and insecurity. In the Far North Region, Cameroon hosts 114,300 Nigerian refugees, with the population sharing their already scarce resources with the refugees. In comparison, in 2017, Cameroon hosted a total population of refugees and asylum seekers of approximately 97,400. Cameroon
Cameroon, officially the Republic of Cameroon, is a country in Central Africa. It shares boundaries with Nigeria to the west and north, Chad to the northeast, the Central African Republic to the east, and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and the Republic of the Congo to the south. Adamawa Region
The Adamawa Region () is a constituent region of the Cameroon, Republic of Cameroon. It borders the Centre Region (Cameroon), Centre and East Region (Cameroon), East regions to the south, the Northwest Region (Cameroon), Northwest and West Region (Cameroon), West regions to the southwest, Nigeria to the west, the Central African Republic (CAR) to the east, and the North Region (Cameroon), North Region to the north. Mbilé, or Mbilé Refugee Camp, is located near the village of Lolo in Kadey Department, East Region, Cameroon. It is located four hours by bus from the refugee transit center at the border town of Gbiti. As of March 2014, the aid group Plan International described a young mother at the site saying one meal was provided per day. Lolo, Cameroon
Lolo is a village in Kadey Department, East Region, Cameroon, which had a population of about 2,000 in 2013. In the first months of 2014, the village of Lolo became home to approximately 10,000 refugees fleeing the Central African Republic. As of March 14, 2014, there were about 2,000 children in the camp. Batouri
Batouri is a town and commune in the East Province (Cameroon), East Province of Cameroon. It is the second largest municipality in the province after the provincial capital Bertoua. It is located on the main (though unpaved) road connecting Bertoua to the Central African Republic and to the Cameroonian town of Yokadouma. It had an estimated 33,500 inhabitants as of 2012. People Batouri is mostly dominated by fulbe/fulani people and a large percentage of the population speaks the Fulani language fulfulde. However several other ethnic groups, such as the Baya, Yangélé, and the Mézimé are also native to the area. In addition there are many recent immigrants to the Batouri area.
