Randy Brown (born May 22, 1968) is an American retired basketball player and former coach for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Brown was a guard who played at New Mexico State University and the University of Houston. He also popularized the "What time is it" chant as a pre-game ritual, which was innovated by Cliff Levingston. Professional career Brown was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the second round of the 1991 NBA draft. He played four seasons in Sacramento, scoring 1,349 points, but he would become best known for his tenure with the Chicago Bulls. Brown signed with the Bulls in 1995, and he provided valuable energy and aggressiveness off the bench during the Bulls' second "three-peat" (1996–1998). A fan favorite, Brown was also one of the few veteran players who stayed with the Bulls after the 1998–99 lockout. Randall Joseph Brown (born July 8, 1990) is an American professional mixed martial artist. He currently competes in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). A professional since 2014, he has formerly competed for Ring of Combat and became the Welterweight Ring of Combat Champion in 2015. Background Brown was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Jamaican parents, but moved to Spanish Town, Jamaica as a toddler with his mother as she was deported. His father is serving a triple-life sentence and has been incarcerated for most of Randy's life. Randy moved back to the United States at the age of 16 and attended Jamaica High School. Randy Brown (1952 – March 3, 2025) was an American R&B singer. Early life and career Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Brown started as a singer of doo-wop and in his local church. He became a solo singer after recording with Memphis group, The Newcomers, who had the R&B hit "Pin The Tail On The Donkey" in 1971, on Stax Records. In 1973, Brown left The Newcomers and recorded his first single "Did You Hear Yourself" on Stax Records. After several unsuccessful singles on a Stax subsidiary label, in 1975 he recorded "You Can Be Cured" and "Take a Few More Steps" on Mainstream Records, which he left one year later. Brown was persuaded to return to the studio by writer/producer Carl Hampton in 1978. After receiving a call from Hampton, with whom he had been at school, Brown recorded four tracks that were given to Russ Regan at Parachute Records. Randy Scott Brown (born July 30, 1967) is an American politician who is the former mayor of Evesham Township. Brown is also a National Football League special teams coach for the Baltimore Ravens. Prior to consulting for the Baltimore Ravens, Brown served as a kicking coach for the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles. Brown has been succeeded by Jaclyn Veasy. Football career Brown was named an All-State, All-County and All Conference football player at Cherokee High School before his college career at Catawba College in North Carolina. At Catawba College he was named Academic All-American and second team NAIA All-American as a place kicker. Brown was the all-time leading scorer in Catawba football history with 234 points and was the holder of 10 scoring and kicking records, however all records have since been broken.
