Helmut Rahn
Helmut Rahn (16 August 1929 – 14 August 2003), known as ''Der Boss'' (The Boss), was a German footballer who played as a Forward (association football), forward. He became a legend for having scored the winning goal in 1954 FIFA World Cup Final, the final of the 1954 FIFA World Cup (Germany national football team, West Germany vs. Hungary national football team, Hungary 3–2). Rahn, along with the German team, were decorated by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1972. Career Rahn started his career with ''Altenessen 1912'' where he played from 1938 until 1946. Then he went to ''SC Oelde 09'' with a total score of 52 goals for that team. In the 1950–51 season, he played for ''Sportfreunde Katernberg''. He was most successful when he played for Rot-Weiss Essen from 1951 to 1959. Johann Rahn (Latinised form Rhonius) (10 March 1622 – 25 May 1676) was a Swiss mathematician who is credited with the first use of the division sign, ÷ (a repurposed obelus An obelus (plural: obeluses or obeli) is a term in codicology and latterly in typography that refers to a historical annotation mark which has resolved to three modern meanings: * Division sign * Dagger * Commercial minus sign (limited g ... variant) and the therefore sign, ∴. Muriel Rahn
Muriel Ellen Rahn (1911–1961) was an American vocalist and actress. She co-founded the Rose McClendon Players with her husband, Dick Campbell and was one of the leading black concert singers of the mid-20th century. She is perhaps best known for her starring role in the original Broadway production of '' Carmen Jones''. Rahn also served as musical director of the German State Theater in Frankfurt. Biography Muriel Ellen Rahn was born in Boston in 1911, the daughter of Willie and Elizabeth "Bessie" Rahn (''née'' Smith). After her father died, she moved with her mother to New York City, where Bessie met and married Cornelius M. Battey, who became director of photography of the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Muriel finished her high school at Tuskegee, then attended Atlanta University before earning a degree from the Music Conservatory of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
