Rafael Alarcón (golfer)
Rafael Alarcón (born 5 August 1958) is a Mexican professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour. Early life Alarcón was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, playing golf from young age at Guadalajara Country Club, one of the oldest golf clubs in Mexico. Amateur career Alarcón played on two NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship, NCAA Division I Championship winning teams, 1976 NCAA Division I Golf Championship, 1976 and 1978 NCAA Division I Golf Championship, 1978, and was a three-time All-American while attending Oklahoma State University–Stillwater, Oklahoma State University. 1983 PGA Tour
The 1983 PGA Tour was the 68th season of the PGA Tour, the main professional golf tour in the United States. It was also the 15th season since separating from the PGA of America. Changes for 1983 This was also the first season of the "All-Exempt Tour" which provided many more exemptions per year. For example, those that finished in the top 125 of the money list maintained full-time status rather than the top 60 which had been the historic benchmark. Asia Golf Circuit
The Asia Golf Circuit was the principal men's professional golf tour in Southeast Asia from the early 1960s through to the mid-late 1990s. The tour was founded in 1961 as the Far East Circuit. The first series of five tournaments was held in 1962 and consisted of the national open championships of the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong, plus a final tournament held in Japan. The tour gradually grew over the subsequent years, eventually becoming a regular ten tournament circuit in 1974. Leading players in the end of season standings were granted exemptions into major tournaments around the world, such as The Open Championship, the U.S. Open and the Memorial Tournament, and in later years were rewarded with playing status on the PGA of Japan Tour. The Indian Open, titled for sponsorship reasons as the Hero Indian Open since 2011, is the national open golf championship of India, organised by the Indian Golf Union. Founded in 1964, it was added to the Asia Golf Circuit schedule in 1970. In 1998 it became an event on the rival Omega Tour (known as the Asian Tour since 2004). Cacharel World Under-25 Championship
The Cacharel World Under-25 Championship was a professional golf tournament for under-25 golfers which was played annually in France from 1976 to 1983, except in 1977. In 1976 it was played in Évian-les-Bains but from 1978 to 1983 it was played in Nîmes. It was an event on European Tour but prize money did not count towards the Order of Merit/Official Money List and a victory did not count as an official tour win; later such tournaments were designated as "approved special events". Early life and amateur career Simpson was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. The 1980 Eisenhower Trophy took place October 8 to 11 on the No. 2 course at the Pinehurst Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina. It was the 12th World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy and the second time the event had been held in the United States, after the 1960 Eisenhower Trophy, 1960 event. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 39 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. United States won the Eisenhower Trophy for the eighth time, finishing 27 strokes ahead of the silver medalists, South Africa. Chinese Taipei (now Taiwan) took the bronze medal, nine strokes further behind, while Japan finished fourth. The 1974 Eisenhower Trophy took place 30 October to 2 November at the Casa de Campo in La Romana, Dominican Republic. It was the ninth World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 35 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. The United States won the Eisenhower Trophy for the fourth successive time, finishing 10 strokes ahead of the silver medalists, Japan. Brazil took the bronze medal while South Africa finished fourth.
