''Radio Salone'' (2012) is the third album from Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars. It was produced by artist and producer Victor Axelrod aka "Ticklah," who has worked with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Amy Winehouse and the Easy Star All Stars, and recorded at Dunham Studios in Brooklyn, NY. With two records in their pockets, Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars blend the vibrant sounds of traditional West Africa, along with all the grooves they have picked up throughout their travels since their formation in the Guinean Sembakounya Refugee Camp. The title, "Salone" stands for Sierra Leone in Krio shorthand, and is combined with "Radio" to acknowledge the important role of radios as a connection to the outside world during the civil war A civil war is a war between organized groups within the same Sovereign state, state (or country). Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars (also called Refugee All Stars) is a band from Sierra Leone which was formed by a group of refugees displaced to Guinea during the Sierra Leone Civil War. Since their return to Freetown in 2004, the band has toured extensively to raise awareness for humanitarian causes. Their story is documented in the 2005 documentary film ''Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars (film), Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars''. Their debut album, ''Living Like a Refugee'', was released on the label Anti in Europe on 25 September 2006, and in the US on September, 26 2006. Victor Axelrod
Victor Axelrod is an American musician, producer, and audio engineer from Brooklyn, New York. Since the mid-1990s, he has worked primarily in the genres of reggae, Afrobeat and soul, recording and producing under his own name and using the alias Ticklah. Axelrod became a founding member of Antibalas and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings after meeting musicians Martin Perna and Gabe Roth (a.k.a. Bosco Mann) in the late 1990s. Starting in 1996, Axelrod appeared as a session musician playing keyboards for Easy Star Records, a New York City independent reggae label. This studio relationship eventually resulted in him taking on the role of co-producer and engineer of the label's release '' Dub Side of the Moon'', a 2003 dub reggae reinterpretation of the Pink Floyd album ''The Dark Side of the Moon'' recorded by the Easy Star All-Stars. Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings were an American funk and soul music, soul band signed to Daptone Records. They were part of a Retro-soul, revival movement of mid-1960s to mid-1970s style funk and soul music.
