''Radio 1's Life Hacks'' is a programme and podcast on BBC Radio 1, presented by Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton. The show began in 2017, replacing ''The Surgery ''The Surgery'' was a British radio show that aired on BBC Radio 1 weekly from 1999 to 2017. It was most recently hosted by Katie Thistleton and Doctor Radha Modgil, prior to its merger in November 2017 with a new show entitled '' Radio 1's ...'' in the Sunday teatime slot. Format The programme includes discussion of health and social issues such as exam stress, sexual health, alcohol and drugs. The original presenters were Cel Spellman, Katie Thistleton and Radha Modgil. Victoria Nwayawu Nwosu-Hope (born 25 September 1989) is a British television and radio presenter, journalist and published author. Hope hosts the BBC Radio 1 drivetime show ''Going Home with Vick, Katie and Jamie'' with Katie Thistleton and Jamie Laing. ''The Sunday Times'' dubbed her a "voice of a generation" when she started at BBC Radio 1 in 2020. Hope hosted the 2022 Women's Prize For Fiction podcast series after she was on the 2021 judging panel. Katie Lorna Thistleton is an English television and radio presenter, journalist and author, best known for her work across BBC Radio 1 and previously CBBC. She currently co-hosts Radio 1's Going Home with Vick, Katie and Jamie, having previously been host of ''Life Hacks'' and ''The Official Chart: First Look'' alongside Vick Hope. Early life Born in Manchester, Thistleton attended Droylsden High School for Girls. ''The Surgery'' was a British radio show that aired on BBC Radio 1 weekly from 1999 to 2017. It was most recently hosted by Katie Thistleton and Doctor Radha Modgil, prior to its merger in November 2017 with a new show entitled '' Radio 1's Life Hacks''. History The show first began with Sara Cox on 19 September 1999, then was joint-hosted by Emma B. Emma B and Doctor Mark Hamilton then co-hosted the show for six years, before Letitia SD took over the programme. From July 2007, Annie Mac took over the role of presenting from Letitia during the ''Sex Weeks of Summer'', a series of special programs during Radio 1's ''Six Weeks of Summer'', focusing on sex related issues. Ceallach John Spellman ( ; born 31 August 1995) is an English actor, writer and presenter best known for playing Matthew Williams in the revival of ITV drama ''Cold Feet'', Harry Fisher in the BBC One school-based drama '' Waterloo Road'' from 2010 to 2011 and hosting '' Friday Download'' and various other programmes on CBBC. Radha Modgil
Radha Modgil is an English medical doctor and media personality. Biography Modgil studied at University of Cambridge gaining an MA degree and qualified as a doctor at Imperial College London. She worked for five years in hospital medicine in London and then trained for a further two years to qualify as a general practitioner. Modgil continues to practice as an NHS GP, as well as teaching and working in health promotion. Modgil was one of the co-hosts of BBC Radio 1's ''The Surgery'' prior to its cancellation in 2017; her final co-host was Katie Thistleton.
