ROFLcon
ROFLCon was a biennial Convention (meeting), convention of internet memes that took place in 2008, 2010 and 2012, featuring various internet celebrities. All three events were at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. ROFLCon was first organized by a group of students from Harvard University led by Tim Hwang. According to Hwang, the inspiration for the conference was the September 23, 2007 meetup of fans of ''xkcd'' with its creator, Randall Munroe, in a park in North Cambridge, Massachusetts. The name "ROFLCon" comes from the internet slang "ROFL", short for "rolling on the floor laughing", and "con", short for "convention". Keyboard Cat
Keyboard Cat is the first video-based on cats internet meme. Its original form was a video made in 1984 by Charlie Schmidt of his cat Fatso seemingly playing a Electronic keyboard, musical keyboard (though manipulated by Schmidt off-camera) to a cheery tune. While Schmidt had uploaded the video himself to YouTube in 2007, Brad O'Farrell, with Schmidt's permission, appended the video to the end of a blooper video uploaded in 2009 as if to have the cat "play" the person offstage after the gaffe as they had done in vaudeville. The idea of this quickly expanded on the Internet by numerous other users, typically under the name "Play Him Off, Keyboard Cat", and became a popular meme on YouTube. Christopher Poole
Christopher Poole (born 1987 or 1988), also known online as moot, is an American Internet entrepreneur and developer. He founded the anonymous English-language imageboard 4chan in October 2003, when he was still a teenager; he served as the site's head administrator until January 2015. He also founded the online community Canvas Networks, active from 2011 to 2014. Poole was hired by Google in 2016 to work on Google+ and serve as a product manager. He left the company in 2021. As a teenager, he was a member of the Something Awful forum, and frequented the anonymous Japanese textboard 2channel and its offshoot 2chan. Average Homeboy (also known as Denny Blaze and Denny Blazin Hazen) is the creation and alter ego of Cleveland-based AV artist Denny Hazen. Hazen (as Blazin Hazen, a self-proclaimed "Suburban White Rapper") was the subject of a circa-1989 video demo tape that mysteriously appeared on YouTube in 2005, and achieved viral video status in a relatively short time. Trocadero is an experimental rock band formed in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1997. The band's current lineup consists of Nico Audy-Rowland, Brandon Erdos, Violet Heart, and Martha Marin. Trocadero got its name after a subway stop in Paris. The band is best known for their contribution to the soundtrack of the web-series ''Red vs. Blue''. Nico Audy-Rowland had discovered the show in 2003 and sent the creators a song, "''Blood Gulch Blues''", which would end up becoming the show's opening theme. Lemon Demon is a musical project and band created by American comedian and musician Neil Cicierega in 2003 in Boston, Massachusetts. Lemon Demon's studio work is performed solely by Cicierega, who is the project's sole official member.
