RFL Women's Championship Seasons (2017–2023)
The RFL Women's Championship is the second tier of women's rugby in the British rugby league system sitting below the RFL Women's Super League. The competition was founded in 2017, and was a single leagued division with all teams based in Northern England due to geographic distribution of the sport's popularity. However, starting in 2024, in response to the increase in popularity of women's rugby league outside of Northern England, the Championship was expanded to include a Midlands and South group for teams elsewhere in the county, allowing a route to the Super League for all teams. The RFL Women's Championship (originally proposed as the RFL Women's Regional Super League) is a rugby league competition for women's rugby league clubs in Great Britain. The competition is the second tier competition in the British rugby league system with competition winners having the possibility of promotion to the RFL Women's Super League. Warrington Wolves Women are the women's rugby league team of Warrington Wolves in Warrington, Cheshire, England. They compete in the RFL Women's Super League, playing their home games at Victoria Park and some games at the Halliwell Jones Stadium; the home of the men's team. Huddersfield Giants Women are the women's rugby league team of Huddersfield Giants from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. They compete in the RFL Women's Super League, playing their home games at Laund Hill and double header matches with the men's team at the John Smith's Stadium. Barrow Raiders Ladies are the women's rugby league team of Barrow Raiders from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. They compete in the Women's Super League, and play their home games at Craven Park. Wakefield Trinity Ladies are the women's rugby league team of Wakefield Trinity in Wakefield, England. Leigh Leopards Women are a women's rugby League team based in Leigh, Greater Manchester, England. The team originally competed as the ladies' team of Leigh Miners Rangers before an agreement between the club and Leigh Leopards led to the rebranding of the team in late 2022. The Oulton Raidettes Women's Rugby League Club are an women's rugby league football team based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. They were founded in 2012 and have affiliations with the Oulton Raiders. they play in the RFL Women's Championship.
