Presidents Of The Regional Government Of The Azores
Presidents of the Regional Government of the Azores are heads of government for the autonomous local authority of the Azores, since the Carnation Revolution that installed the democratic Third Portuguese Republic. The list below includes the leaders of the transitional regimes and those presidents designated after the institutionalization of the autonomy statute that provided the archipelago with its laws and democratic rights. Flag Of The Azores
The Flag of the Azores ( pt, Bandeira dos Açores) is the regional flag of the Portuguese Autonomous Region of the Azores. It is a rectangular bicolour with a field unevenly divided into blue on the hoist, and white on the fly. It was established on 10 April 1979 by the Regional Assembly of the Azores, being based in the National Flag of Portugal used between 1830 and 1910. Design The flag construction follows the same proportions and other features of those present in the Flag of Portugal. Its length is equal to 1.5 times its width, corresponding with an aspect ratio of 2:3. The field is vertically divided into two colours: blue on the hoist side, and white on the fly. The colour division is made in a way that blue spans 40% of the length and the remaining 60% are filled by white. Altino Pinto De Magalhães
Altino Amadeu Pinto de Magalhães ; 8 May 1922 – 24 January 2019) was a Portuguese commissioned army officer in the Portuguese Armed Forces and politician who served as a deputy Minister of Defence. He was the President of the Junta Regional of the Azores. He served as a general in the Portuguese Armed Forces, who, while having a conservative style, supported the Carnation Revolution of 25 April 1974. Vasco Ilídio Alves Cordeiro (born 28 March 1973) is a Portuguese Socialist Party politician, who served as President of the Regional Government of the Azores from 2012, following his party's victory on the 2012 Azores regional election, until 2020. Early life Vasco Cordeiro was born in the civil parish of Covoada, deannexed from the neighboring parish of Relva, in the flanks of the Serra Devassa, northwest of Ponta Delgada. He was born to middle-class farming family, the youngest of three sons of Luís and Lourdes Cordeiro.
