Pic De Petit Rochebrune
The Pic de Petit Rochebrune (or, simply, ''Petit Rochebrune'') is a mountain in the Cottian Alps belonging to the French department of Hautes-Alpes. Etymology The literal English translation of ''Pic de Rochebrune'' can be ''dark rock peak'' or ''brown rock peak''. ''Petit'' means ''small'', and refers to the fact that the mountain is smaller than the neighbouring Pic de Rochebrune. Geography The mountain is located on the ridge dividing the Queyras (valley of the Guil, a tributary of the Durance) from the valley of the Cerveyrette, another tributary of the Durance. Administratively is shared bey the municipalities of Cervières and Aiguilles. The Punta Merciantaira (in Italian ) or Grand Glaiza (in French) is a 3,293 metres high mountain of the Cottian Alps. Geography The peak is located on the French-Italian border between the Metropolitan City of Turin (Piedmont) and the French department of Hautes-Alpes ( Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur). In topography, prominence (also referred to as autonomous height, relative height, and shoulder drop in US English, and drop or relative height in British English) measures the height of a mountain or hill's summit relative to the lowest contour line encircling it but containing no higher summit within it.
