Philip Seymour Hoffman (July 23, 1967 – February 2, 2014) was an American actor. Known for his distinctive supporting and character roles—typically lowlifes, eccentrics, underdogs, and misfits—he acted in many films and theatrical productions, including leading roles, from the early 1990s until his death in 2014. Hoffman was drawn to theater in his youth after attending a stage production of Arthur Miller's '' All My Sons'' at age 12. Philipp Hoffmann (architect)
Philipp Hoffmann (23 November 1806 – 3 January 1889) was a German architect and builder, principally known for his work in the Nassau capital in Wiesbaden. Life Hoffmann was born in Geisenheim. In 1830 he was a building assessor in the Nassau Civil Service. As a young architect, his first design for the Neo-Gothic expansion of the Rheingauer Dom in his birthplace of Geisenheim (1834-1838), followed by involvement in the design of the Stadtschloss in Wiesbaden (1837-1841) - he was sent to Pompeii for six months by his architect Georg Moller, where he drew Roman paintings later used as the basis for the Stadtschloss's interior. These projects gained the attention of William, Duke of Nassau, who promoted him to court architect of Nassau in 1850. Philipp Hofmann (born 30 March 1993) is a German professional footballer who plays for VfL Bochum as a forward. Hofmann is a product of the Schalke 04 academy and made his professional breakthrough away from the club on loan, before transferring to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 2014. Following two years in England with Brentford between 2015 and 2017, he returned to Germany and forged a career in the 2. Bundesliga with Greuther Fürth, Eintracht Braunschweig and Karlsruher SC. Philip Guthrie Hoffman (6 August 1915 – 29 October 2008) was the fifth president of the University of Houston, and the first chancellor of the University of Houston System. While at the university, he was instrumental in obtaining state affiliation, transitioning to a racially integrated status, and expanding enrollment in multiple locations. Hoffman also served as president of the Texas Medical Center. Prior to his appointment as president of UH, he was a professor and administrator for several universities. Early life Hoffman was born in 1915 in Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan to Benjamin Philip Hoffman and Florence Guthrie Hoffman who were serving as missionaries there.
