Peter Evans (musician)
Peter Evans is a improvising trumpeter who specializes in free improvisation and avant-garde music. Career Evans graduated from The Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He also studied at the New England Conservatory of Music's School of Preparatory Education. He has led the Peter Evans Quintet with Ron Stabinsky, Sam Pluta, Tom Blancarte, and Jim Black, the Zebulon trio with John Hebert and Kassa Overall, and was a member of the band Mostly Other People Do the Killing. He has worked with Peter Brötzmann, Mary Halvorson, Okkyung Lee, Evan Parker, Matana Roberts, Tyshawn Sorey, Dave Taylor, Weasel Walter, and John Zorn. He is a member of the International Contemporary Ensemble and Wet by the ICE, Yarn/Wire, the Donaueschingen Musiktage Festival, the Jerome Foundation's Emerging Artist Program, and was a 2014 Artist-in-Residence at Issue Project Room in Brooklyn, New York. Free Improvisation
Free improvisation or free music is improvised music without any rules beyond the logic or inclination of the musician(s) involved. The term can refer to both a technique (employed by any musician in any genre) and as a recognizable genre in its own right. Weasel Walter (born Christopher Todd Walter, May 18, 1972) is an American composer, improviser, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and founder of ugEXPLODE Records. Walter's work has been informed by techniques and traditions of music including Avant-garde, experimental, no wave, free jazz, extreme metal, punk jazz, hardcore punk, noise, new music and free improvisation. He coined the term "brutal prog" to describe the aggressively dissonant strain of prog played by groups like his band The Flying Luttenbachers. Christian Lillinger (born 21 April 1984) is a German drummer, composer and percussionist. He was born in Lübben, grew up in the German village of Kuschkow, and has been living in Berlin since 2003 working as a musician and composer. Christian has performed in concerts and at festivals in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the US. Thirsty Ear Recordings is an American independent record label. It was founded in the late 1970s as a marketing company for the then-unnamed alternative music field, and expanded to issue its own records in 1990. Thirsty Ear came to prominence in the mid-1990s with a series of CD reissues of early industrial albums by artists such as Foetus, Einstürzende Neubauten, Marc Almond, Swans, and Test Dept.
