Peter Birch (priest)
Peter Birch ( – 2 July 1710) was an English clergyman who served as Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons and Archdeacon of Westminster. Birch was the son of Thomas Birch of Birch Hall, Manchester, and his wife Alice . Raised a presbyterian, he was admitted to Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1667, and also studied in Oxford, though not initially as a member of the university. (Under the Test Act, he could not graduate at Cambridge or matriculate at Oxford without conforming to the Church of England.) Having declared his conformity to the established church, he was admitted to Christ Church, Oxford by John Fell, Dean of Christ Church, matriculating on 12 May 1673, aged 21. He graduated B.A. March 1674, M.A. June 1674, B.D. 1684, D.D. 1688, and was made a chaplain of Christ Church by Dr. Fell. Peter Birch (actor)
Peter Birch (31 August 1952 – 13 September 2017) was a British actor born in Harrogate into a military family which travelled worldwide. He was educated at the Duke of York's Royal Military School, Bristol University and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. His notable roles included appearances as Herr Ulrich in the comedy drama series ''Auf Wiedersehen, Pet'', consultant Jack Hathaway in the drama series ''Casualty'' (1996–1997) and Arthur Eliott in ''The House of Eliott''. He also appeared in TV's By The Sword Divided, Portrait of a Marriage, Dennis Potter's Blackeyes, Poirot and the film Aria in the section directed by Bruce Beresford. Peter Birch (bishop)
Right Reverend Peter Birch (4 September 1911 – 7 March 1981) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Ossory from 1964 until his death in 1981. He was known for his activism on behalf of social and community services. He served as a guide and mentor to Sister Stanislaus Kennedy who, in 1974, was appointed by the Irish Government as the first chair of the National Committee on Pilot Schemes to Combat Poverty. Early life and education Birch was born in 1911 in Tullowglass, Jenkinstown, County Kilkenny to a farming family, the eldest of seven children. He began his education in Clinstown National School in 1916, and later was educated at St Kieran's College, Kilkenny and St Patrick's College, Maynooth, where he was ordained in 1937. Following ordination he gained a Higher Diploma in Education and in 1938 joined the teaching staff at St Kieran's College. The following is a list of characters that first appeared in the British soap opera ''Emmerdale'' in 2006, by order of first appearance. All characters were introduced by the soap's executive producer, Keith Richardson.
