Spanish Landing Park
Spanish Landing is a historical site at Spanish Landing Park in San Diego, California, at San Diego Bay. The Spanish Landing site is a California Historical Landmark No. 891 listed on February 20, 1976. It is the site of landing by the Spaniards, Spanish Portolá expedition with leaders Gaspar de Portolá and Junípero Serra. The Spanish ships ''San Antonio'' and San Carlos (ship), ''San Carlos'' landed ship's boats at the site in 1769, looking for fresh water on the San Diego River, on their San Carlos (ship)#San Diego expedition, San Diego expedition. ''San Antonio'' arrived in San Diego Bay on April 11, 1769, and ''San Carlos'' on April 29. They came ashore on May 1, 1769, and set up a base camp on May 14. SeaWorld San Diego is a theme park in Mission Bay Park in San Diego, California. It is a marine mammal park, oceanarium, public aquarium, and marine animal rehabilitation center. San Dieguito River Park
The San Dieguito River Park is a greenway in San Diego County, California, United States. The park, established in 1989, stretches for from the mouth of San Dieguito Lagoon (a lagoon between Solana Beach and Del Mar) to the Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve close to Julian, following the San Dieguito River. The park is a joint powers authority comprising San Diego County and the cities of Del Mar, Escondido, Poway, San Diego, and Solana Beach. San Diego River
The San Diego River is a 52 mi (84 km) river in San Diego County, California. It originates in the Cuyamaca Mountains northwest of the town of Julian, then flows to the southwest until it reaches El Capitan Reservoir, the second-largest reservoir in the river's watershed at . Below El Capitan Dam, the river runs west through Santee and San Diego. While passing through Tierrasanta it goes through Mission Trails Regional Park, one of the largest urban parks in America. Presidio Park
Presidio Park is a city historic park in San Diego, California. It is the site where the San Diego Presidio and the San Diego Mission, the first European settlements in what is now the West Coast of the United States, were founded in 1769. The park encompasses about and offers views of the city, the San Diego River valley, and the Pacific Ocean. The grounds are open to the public. The facilities can be used for weddings and other special events. History In 1773, the mission moved a few miles upriver, while the fort remained on Presidio Hill. The presidio had been established to protect against Indian attacks and foreign invasions. As the need for such protection disappeared, people preferred to live in Old Town at the foot of the hill, and the fort was gradually abandoned. It was in ruins by 1835. This is a list of San Diego Historic Landmarks. In 1967, the City of San Diego established a Historical Resources Board with the authority to designate and protect landmarks from inappropriate alterations. In total, the city has designated more than 1,000 structures or other properties as Historic Landmarks.
