''Paranormal Activity 3'' is a 2011 American found footage supernatural horror film directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. It is the third installment of the ''Paranormal Activity'' series and serves as a prequel, mostly set 18 years prior to the events of the first two films. It was released in theaters on October 21, 2011. ''Paranormal Activity 3'' was also Joost and Schulman's first horror film. The film broke financial records upon release, setting a new record for a midnight opening for a horror film ($8 million) and the best opening day for a horror film in the United States ($26.2 million). Plot In March 2005, Katie delivers a box of old videotapes to her pregnant sister Kristi Rey and her husband Daniel, which holds footage of young Katie and Kristi with their mother, Julie, and her boyfriend Dennis. Henry Joost
Henry Joost (born October 30, 1982) is an American filmmaker, whose work includes directing, with Ariel Schulman, the films ''Catfish'', '' Paranormal Activity 3'', '' Paranormal Activity 4'', ''Nerve'' and '' Project Power''. Henry is married to actress Sofia Black-D'Elia. Career Joost briefly attended Columbia University. In 2006, he became a finalist in the Scion Xpress Fest, a film school competition, where he directed a music video for an indie band Palomar. In 2018, Joost co-directed the Netflix sci-fi superhero thriller film '' Project Power'' alongside Ariel Schulman from a screenplay by Mattson Tomlin. Moorpark is a city in Ventura County in Southern California. Moorpark was founded in 1900. The town grew from just over 4,000 citizens in 1980 to over 25,000 by 1990.
