Anarchic System was a French pop group formed in the early 1970s. The band's members were parts of other groups from the rock scene of northern France. They were in good friendship when the opportunity of recording the "Popcorn" cover was given to them by Paul de Senneville (of Delphine Records) in 1972. They were chosen because of Christian Lerouge's incredible ability in using a Minimoog. Commercial success (700,000 copies) gave the band an opportunity to release two other singles (" Carmen Brasilia" and "Royal Summer"), even before they were signed in 1973. The band's songs are mostly attributed to electronic music due to the presence of a keyboard in "Popcorn", "Carmen Brasilia" and the long version of "Generation". However, other singles are influenced by rock genres. Their influence were Uriah Heep, Warhorse, Black Sabbath and such. AZ is a French record label established in 2002 as an affiliate of Universal Music Group with a big list of artists signed or with distribution rights for their releases in France. Valéry Zeitoun The founder and first president of AZ record label, Valéry Zeitoun, was born in Pantin near Paris on 13 February 1966. He ran the label from its creation in 2002 until October 2011. The label also encourages many new artists. Valéry Zeitoun (already a judge in the French television reality series ''Popstars'' in its second season in 2002) famously ran a campaign in 2010 on Facebook entitled ''Je veux signer chez AZ'' (meaning I want to sign with AZ). Jean-Claude Borelly is a French trumpeter and composer. Background At the age of seven he developed a passion for the trumpet after discovering Louis Armstrong on television. He met a prominent trumpeter of the Paris Opera who, touched by his fascination for the trumpet, introduced him to the instrument and accompanies all during his studies at the Conservatory and has the Normal School of Music. Early years At the age of fourteen he had trumpet lessons at the school of music in Paris. When he was eighteen, Borelly wanted to share his passion so he started teaching the trumpet to the beginners at the school of music. Olivier Toussaint is a French composer, pop singer, orchestra arranger, company manager, and record producer. He also represented Monaco in the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest. Early life He was born in Paris, in a family of classical musicians. His great-grandfather, Gilbert Duprez was a very well known opera singer. His grandparents were both opera singers, and his mother was a concert pianist who played in big orchestras in France. At the insistence of his mother, he studied economics and social sciences at University in Paris. But as soon as he graduated, he was back making music. Warhorse (70s Band)
Warhorse was a British rock band formed by Deep Purple's first bassist Nick Simper. History After being sacked by Deep Purple in 1969, Simper joined Marsha Hunt's backing band. Not long after, Simper replaced her backing band with Ged Peck on guitar and Mac Poole on drums. When Hunt became pregnant, the band stopped touring, and Simper and Peck re-organized the group as Warhorse. Ashley Holt became the band's singer, and they recruited keyboardist Rick Wakeman. When their first demo was recorded in April 1970, Wakeman left to join the Strawbs and was replaced by Frank Wilson. Warhorse signed to Vertigo, and released their first album, ''Warhorse'' in November 1970. Warhorse was managed by Ron Hire, originally part of HEC Enterprises, the original investors in Deep Purple. Popcorn (instrumental)
"Popcorn" (first version "Pop Corn") is an instrumental song composed by Gershon Kingsley in 1969 for the album ''Music to Moog By''. It was performed on the Moog synthesizer and released on the Audio Fidelity label. The name is a combination of ''pop'' for pop music and ''corn'' for kitsch. The song became a worldwide hit in 1972, when it was covered by Hot Butter, an American pop band. Since then, multiple versions of the piece have been produced and released, including those by Vyacheslav Mescherin, Anarchic System, Popcorn Makers, the Boomtang Boys, M & H Band, Crazy Frog, and the Muppets. Minimoog
The Minimoog is an analog synthesizer first manufactured by Moog Music between 1970 and 1981. Designed as a more affordable, portable version of the modular Moog synthesizer, it was the first synthesizer sold in retail stores. It was first popular with progressive rock and jazz musicians and found wide use in disco, pop, rock and electronic music. Production of the Minimoog stopped in the early 1980s after the sale of Moog Music. In 2002, founder Robert Moog regained the rights to the Moog brand, bought the company, and released an updated version of the Minimoog, the Minimoog Voyager. In 2016 and in 2022, Moog Music released another new version of the original Minimoog.
