Punta Lunella
The Punta Lunella is a mountain of the Graian Alps, with an elevation of 2,772 m.Geoportale IGM owww.pcn.minambiente.it/ref> Toponymy In 1831 the mountain was named ''Punta Cruvin'' by the topographer Maggi after a nearby mountain pastures, "Alpe Cruvin". In the 1845 release of the Kingdom of Sardinia chart the mountain appears as ''Punta di Cruvin'', while a toponym ''Punta Lunel'' (also derived by the name of a mountain pasture) was applied to a lesser summit between the present-day Punta Lunella (2,772 m) and the Grand'Uja (2,666 m). On the following editions of the national topographic map the name ''Lunella'' (in the forms of ''La Lunella'' or ''Punta Lunella'') is permanently given to the 2,772 m mountain summit. The Istituto Geografico Centrale (IGC, in English ‘’Central Geographic Institute’’) is a privately owned Italian company based in Turin (Piedmont), known for its guide books and hiking maps mainly concerning the Western Alps and their contiguous areas. History IGC was established by Giuseppe Candeletti in 1952. Its first products were some very detailed maps of Turin and the ''Guida Toponomastica di Torino'' ('' Toponomastic guide of Turin''). The following year IGC published an Atlante di Milano'' (''Atlas of Milan'') at scale of 1:5,000 . The Lanzo Valleys (in Italian ''Valli di Lanzo'', in Piedmontese ''Valade ëd Lans'') is a group of valleys in the north-west of Piedmont in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Italy. Susa Valley
The Susa Valley ( it, Val di Susa; pms, Valsusa; french: Val de Suse; oc, Val d'Ors) is a valley in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont region of northern Italy, located between the Graian Alps in the north and the Cottian Alps in the south. It is one of the longest valleys of the Italian Alps. It extends over in an east-west direction from the French border to the outskirts of Turin. The valley takes its name from the city of Susa which lies in the valley. The Dora Riparia river, a tributary of the Po, flows through the valley. SOIUSA code is the code used in the International Standardized Mountain Subdivision of the Alps (ISMSA or SOIUSA), a proposal by Italian Alpinist, Sergio Marazzi, to re- categorize the mountains and mountain ranges of the Alps. The proposal has been aired since 2005 but has yet to receive official recognition. SOIUSA groups' hierarchy SOIUSA divides the Alps in two main regions, the Western Alps and Eastern Alps. Rocciamelone ( pms, Ròcia-mlon, french: Rochemelon or ''Roche Melon'') is a 3,538 m high mountain in Piedmont, Italy, near the border between Italy and France. Geography Rocciamelone is located between Val di Susa and Maurienne, 50 km west of Turin. Its summit is the tripoint where the comunes of Usseglio, Novalesa and Mompantero meet. The international border crosses the ''Glacier de Rochemelon'' 1 kilometer north of the summit, making it appear that the border is not following the watershed precisely in this sector.
