Procopio
Procopio (c. 1841 – 1882 to early 1890s), also known as Red-Handed bebito and Red Dick, was one of the best-known bandits in California history. His nickname was reportedly given due either to his red hair or his violent nature and bloodthirstiness. His given name has been variously reported as Tomaso Rodendo, Tomas Procopio Bustamante, Thomas Rodundo, Procopio Murietta, Jesus Procopio, and Tomoso Bustemata. In 1872, the ''San Francisco Chronicle'' called him "one of the most fearless and daring desperadoes that has ever figured in the criminal annals of our state." He was twice convicted of cattle theft and twice served time in San Quentin prison, but was never convicted of any of the murders he was alleged to have committed. Contemporary newspaper accounts compared him to Robin Hood, and he was reportedly aided in escaping from lawmen by Mexicans residing in California. ''Don Procopio'' is a two-act opera buffa by Georges Bizet with an Italian libretto completed in 1859, and first performed in 1906. Background Bizet spent 1857 to 1860 in Italy as winner of the Prix de Rome. Looking for inspiration for a work to send home, he found the subject for his opera buffa in a second-hand bookstall in Rome, writing home that the piece by Carlo Cambiaggio (1798–1880) was "an Italian farce in the manner of ''Don Pasquale''". The words were a reduced version of ''I pretendenti delusi'' (1811) by Giuseppe Mosca (1772–1839). Composition was sporadic over the winter of 1858–59; Bizet confessed that he was still trying to find his voice, although he intentionally aimed at an Italian style for this piece. The report from the Prix de Rome judges noted advances, but a later report signed by Ambroise Thomas criticised Bizet for sending an '' opéra bouffe'' as his first envoi and suggested he divert his attention away from this toward sacred music (althoug ... Procopio Bonifacio
Procopio Bonifacio y de Castro (1873 – May 10, 1897) was a Filipino independence activist and revolutionary during the Philippine Revolution of 1896 against Spain. He was a member of the secret revolutionary society turned revolutionary government Katipunan with his other siblings Ciriaco and Espiridiona. His eldest brother Andrés Bonifacio was one of the founders and, eventually, president of the Katipunan. Family background and early life Procopio was the third of the six children of Santiago Bonifacio and Catalina de Castro. His siblings were Andres, Ciriaco, Troadio, Espiridiona and Maxima. During childhood he, with his other siblings, sold paper canes and fans made by their brother Andres for their living. Procópio Cardoso Neto (born March 21, 1939) is a Brazilian former football player and coach. He started his professional career at Renascença as a center back. Cardoso also played for Belo Horizonte rivals, Cruzeiro and Atlético Mineiro, São Paulo, Fluminense, Vitória and Palmeiras. In a game of Cruzeiro against Santos for 1968 Taça Brasil Cardoso disputed a ball with Pelé and he had ruptured a tendon in his knee. Bruno Procopio (born 1976, Brazil) is a Brazilian harpsichord player based in Paris. History Following early musical studies with Marcelo Fagerlande and Pedro Personne in Rio de Janeiro, Procopio moved to France in 1993. He studied harpsichord at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with Christophe Rousset and chamber music with Blandine Ranou and Kenneth Weiss, earning two First Prizes (Premier Prix) in harpsichord performance and continuo playing. After his formal studies, Procopio became one of the few students of Pierre Hantaï. Procopio's first recording, of JS Bach's Partitas for keyboard numbers 1, 3, and 4, was chosen as one of the five best Baroque music disks of the year by Fanfare magazine in 2004, in addition to a rating of five out of five by the distinguished French magazine Diapason. Long affiliated with Walt Disney Feature Animation as an animator and sculptor, Rubén is credited with restoring the maquette process to feature animation film production in the early 1980s. José Procópio Mendes, best known as ''Zezé Procópio'' (August 12, 1913 in Varginha, Minas Gerais State – February 8, 1980 in Valença, Rio de Janeiro State) was an association footballer in midfielder role.
