Prix Découvertes RFI
''Prix découvertes RFI'' is the French-speaking African version of the reality singing competition, RFI Discovery Prize, and was created in 1981 to highlight new musical talents from Africa each year. This show has featured artists such as Tiken Jah Fakoly, Mav Cacharel, Rokia Traoré, Didier Awadi, Amadou and Mariam, Canjo Amissi or Maurice Kirya. Coaches and hosts The judging panel is made up of industry professionals, and is each year chaired by notable personalities such as Jacob Desvarieux, Youssou N'Dour, Angélique Kidjo, Passi, Kery James, Richard Bona, A'salfo, and Fally Ipupa. RFI and its partners offer the winner professional support, cross-channel promotion, and promotion on their websites. In addition, the winner receives 10,000 euros and a tour of Africa. Radio France Internationale, usually referred to as RFI, is the State media, state-owned international radio news network of France. With 59.5 million listeners in 2022, it is one of the most-listened-to international radio stations in the world, along with Deutsche Welle, the BBC World Service and Voice of America. RFI broadcasts 24 hours per day around the world in French and in 16 other languages in FM, shortwave, medium wave, satellite and on its website. Tiken Jah Fakoly
Doumbia Moussa Fakoly (born June 23, 1968 in Odienné), better known by his stage name Tiken Jah Fakoly (), is an Ivorian reggae singer and songwriter. Early life Doumbia Moussa Fakoly was born on 23 June 1968 in Odienné, Kabadougou Region, north-western Côte d'Ivoire. He discovered reggae at an early age, assembling his first group, ''Djelys'', in 1987. He became well-known at a regional level, but later ascended to national recognition. Career Concerned by the social and political evolution of his country, it was not long before Tiken Jah was writing incisive works on the political environment in Côte d'Ivoire. Mav Cacharel
Mav Cacharel (born January 14, 1957) is a Congolese soukous singer. Biography He began performing at age 13 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, with his first group Les Ombres. He won the Prix découvertes RFI prize in 1983. He used the money to move to Paris, where he made a living as a session singer with band Loketo composed of Aurlus Mabélé, Diblo Dibala and Jean Baron. After singing for various African and West Indian recordings, he recorded his first album, ''Chanti die !'', in 1987. In 1988, he left the group Loketo in order to create the group Kebo. He made several albums in the late 1980s with his backing band, Kebo. Rokia Traoré
Rokia Traoré (born 24. January 1974) is a Malian-born singer, songwriter and guitarist. She made six albums between 1998 and 2016. ''Bowmboï'' (2003) won the Critics Award category at the BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music in 2004 and ''Tchamantché'' (2008) won Victoires de la Musique World Music Album of the Year in 2009. Traoré won Best Artist in the Songlines Music Awards in 2009. She is a member of the Bambara ethnic group. Biography Traoré's father was a diplomat and she travelled widely in her youth. She visited Algeria, Saudi Arabia, France and Belgium and was exposed to a wide variety of influences. Her hometown of Kolokani is in the northwestern part of Mali's Koulikoro region. Didier Awadi is a Senegalese rapper and a significant figure in Francophone West African hip hop. As a founding member of Positive Black Soul (PBS) with Duggy Tee, Awadi toured around the world contributing to the international popularity of Hip Hop Galsen. Passi () is a hip hop artist who became famous in the mid-1990s with the group Ministère AMER, which included himself, Doc Gyneco and Stomy Bugsy. He is most widely known, however, as a solo artist, as well as a participant in many other groups, such as Bisso Na Bisso and Dis l'heure 2 zouk. Biography Passi was born on 21 December 1972, in Brazzaville, Congo. In 1979, his family moved to Sarcelles, a suburb of Paris. Alix Mathurin () (born December 28, 1977), publicly known as Kery James, is a French- Haitian rapper, singer, actor, director, and screenwriter from Les Abymes, Guadeloupe. Richard Bona
Richard Bona (born 28 October 1967) is a Cameroon-born American multi-instrumentalist and singer. Early life Bona Penda Nya Yuma Elolo was born in Minta, Cameroon, into a family of musicians, which enabled him to start learning music from a young age. His grandfather was a griot – a West African singer of praise and storyteller – and percussionist, as his mother was a singer. When he was four years old, Bona started to play the balafon. At the age of five, he began performing at his village church. Not being wealthy, Bona made many of his own instruments: including flutes and guitars (with cords strung over an old motorcycle tank). Magic systems in games are the rules, limitations, abilities, and characteristics that define magic in a game.
