''Louise'' Fredericka of Anhalt-Dessau () (1 March 1798 – 11 June 1858) was a member of the House of Ascania and a Princess of Anhalt-Dessau by birth. Through her marriage to Gustav, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg, Louise became Landgravine consort of Hesse-Homburg from 1846 until 1848. Early life and education Princess Louise was born on 1 March 1798 in Dessau as the fifth child and second daughter of Frederick, Hereditary Prince of Anhalt-Dessau and his wife Landgravine Amalie of Hesse-Homburg, daughter of Frederick V, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg. Princess Louise was a deaf-mute from birth. Until 1811, she was tutored by poet Friedrich von Matthisson (1761–1831) in Wörlitz. Marriage and issue On 12 February 1818 in Dessau, Louise married her uncle, Gustav, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg. Frederick V, Landgrave Of Hesse-Homburg
Frederick V Louis William Christian, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg (30 January 1748, Bad Homburg vor der Höhe – 20 January 1820, Bad Homburg vor der Höhe) was from 1751 to his death landgrave of Hesse-Homburg. He was born under Europe's Ancien Regime but lived to see the Age of Enlightenment, the French Revolution, the fall of the Holy Roman Empire, the rise and fall of Napoleon I, the Congress of Vienna and its establishment of a new geopolitical order in Europe and Germany. Unlike his predecessors and successors, he was not keen on war and instead became one of the patrons of German Geistesgeschichte, corresponding with Lavater and Klopstock and visiting Voltaire, D’Alembert and Albrecht von Haller. He was caustic, conservative but popular with his people. Caroline of Hesse-Darmstadt (2March 174618September 1821) was Landgravine consort of Hesse-Homburg by marriage to Frederick V, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg. Early life Caroline was born on 2 March 1746 in Buchsweiler. She was the eldest daughter of Louis IX, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt and his wife Countess Palatine Caroline of Zweibrücken-Birkenfeld. Marriage She married Frederick V, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg on 27 September 1768. The marriage was contracted for diplomatic and political reasons as the symbol of an inheritance dispute between their respective families. Caroline and Frederick V produced many children but their marriage never developed into a personal relationship, and they lived mostly separated lives. Caroline often spent time in her villa in the forest near Homburg.
