The Primera División de Fútbol Profesional de El Salvador (First Division of Professional Football of El Salvador), more commonly known as La Liga Mayor or La Primera, also known as Liga Pepsi for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional association football, football league in El Salvador. It was established in 1947, and in 2011 had 10 clubs. Initially the league was run as a year-long tournament, but since 1998 there are two tournaments each year, much like in many other football leagues in the Americas. The Apertura season runs from August to December, while the Clausura season runs from February to July. Of the 56 teams to have competed in the league, C.D. Santos Noel Rivera Ayala (born April 8, 1974) is a former Salvadoran professional football goalkeeper. Club career Rivera started his career at Segunda División club Santiagueño at the age of 15 and moved to Primera División outfit ADET in 1993. After six years there, he joined Municipal Limeño for another four years, before he finally moved to one of the country's top teams for a short spell at Águila. He returned to Águila after another short stint at FAS. He did not win a league title during his playing career and retired from the game in 2009 to become goalkeeper coach of Águila. Waldir Guerra (born April 2, 1967) is a retired Salvadoran footballer who played for the El Salvador national football team during his career. Club career Guerra arrived in the USA as a refugee in 1982 and attended Bells High School for whom he scored 117 goals in his first three years, which was a record. As a senior, he played for American Professional Soccer League side Los Angeles Heat until they went out of business in 1990. Three years later he played for Los Angeles Salsa for whom he scored once in 22 matches in his first season. He returned to his native El Salvador in 1997 to play for Águila.
