Prime Minister's Trade Envoy
A Prime Ministerial Trade Envoy is a position in British foreign policy, within the Department for International Trade since 2016, and formerly with the UK Trade & Investment government department from 2003 to 2016. Trade Envoys are appointed by the Prime Minister in order to promote British business and trade interests abroad. The Special Representative for International Trade and Investment is a currently dormant position previously held by a member of the British Royal Family, who had the responsibility of representing the Sovereign for trade purposes. Following the 2012 Cabinet reshuffle, Ken Clarke was made a roving trade envoy, focusing on promoting British expertise to emerging economies, in particular China and Brazil. Between September 2012 and November 2013, Lord Marland served as the Prime Minister's trade envoy. The Department for International Trade (DIT) was a Departments of the Government of the United Kingdom, department of the Government of the United Kingdom, United Kingdom Government, from July 2016 to February 2023. In the United Kingdom, life peers are appointed members of the peerage whose titles cannot be inherited, in contrast to hereditary peers. Life peers are appointed by the monarch on the advice of the prime minister. Benjamin John Coleman is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Chelsea and Fulham since 2024. He gained the seat from Conservative minister Greg Hands. Calvin George Bailey (born 1977) is a British Labour Party politician and former Royal Air Force officer who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Leyton and Wanstead since 2024.
