Prelude and Fugue in E-flat major, BWV 852, is a keyboard composition by Johann Sebastian Bach. In music, a subject is the material, usually a recognizable melody, upon which part or all of a composition is based. In forms other than the fugue, this may be known as the theme. Characteristics A subject may be perceivable as a complete musical expression in itself, separate from the work in which it is found. Netherlands Bach Society
The Netherlands Bach Society () is the oldest ensemble for Baroque music in the Netherlands, and possibly in the world. The ensemble was founded in 1921 in Naarden to perform Bach's ''St Matthew Passion'' on Good Friday and has performed the work annually since then in the Grote of Sint-Vituskerk (Great Church or St Vitus Church). A tenor is a type of male singing voice whose vocal range lies between the countertenor and baritone voice types. It is the highest male chest voice type. Pieter-Jan Belder
Pieter-Jan Belder (born 19 January 1966) is a Dutch instrumentalist in historically informed performance, playing recorder, harpsichord and fortepiano. He founded the ensemble Musica Amphion for recordings and performances. Career Born in Capelle aan den IJssel, Belder studied recorder with Ricardo Kanjii at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague, and harpsichord with Bob van Asperen at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam. He graduated in 1990 in both fields. Belder won the NDR-Musikpreis in Hamburg in 1997, and in 2000 the International Bach Competition in Leipzig.
