"Pow R. Toc H." is an instrumental, with vocal effects, by the English Rock music, rock band Pink Floyd on their 1967 album ''The Piper at the Gates of Dawn''. In addition to the vocal effects, the piano is a prominent instrument in the piece. Background Toc H. was RAF phonetic alphabet, the army signallers' code for "TH", representing Toc H, Talbot House, a club where officers and enlisted men were equals, which later became an interdenominational Christian fellowship organization serving the community. (The emblem of Toc H. is an oil lamp, so a "power Toc H." would be an electric torch—probably with a dim bulb, as per the saying "as dim as a Toc H. lamp".) "Lovely Rita" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 album ''Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band''. It was written mainly by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney. It is about a meter maid and the narrator's affection for her. Inspiration The term " meter-maid", largely unknown in the UK before the song's release, is American slang for a female traffic warden. "Lovely Rita" originates from when a female traffic warden named Meta Davies issued a parking ticket to McCartney outside Abbey Road Studios. Farfisa Organ
Farfisa () is a manufacturer of electronics based in Osimo, Italy, founded in 1946. The company manufactured a series of compact electronic organs in the 1960s and 1970s, including the Compact, FAST, Professional and VIP ranges, and later, a series of other keyboard instruments. Screaming is an extended vocal technique that is popular in "aggressive" music genres such as heavy metal, punk rock, and noise music. Screamed vocals are usually harsh, loud and aggressive, used to create an angry, emotional or intense tone. It is common in the more extreme subgenres of heavy metal, such as death and black metal, grindcore, as well as many other subgenres.
