Zagreb ( , , , ) is the capital and largest city of Croatia. It is in the northwest of the country, along the Sava river, at the southern slopes of the Medvednica mountain. Branko Mihaljević
Branko Mihaljević (Zagreb, 19 January 1931 – Osijek, 19 September 2005) was a composer, writer, journalist and radio editor. He spent his career, starting in 1952, in Osijek as editor of music and music-documentary programs of Radio-Osijek, and as head of the Center of Culture University, which provided adult education. One of the songs which he helped become popular is a children's song ''"Zeko i potočić"''. He also wrote a song ''"Moj Osijek"'' which many people accepted as a town anthem. He wrote more than twenty children's operettas for the Osijek children theatre, now named "Children theatre Branko Mihaljević"), most based on librettos of Ratko Zvrko. He wrote the first Slavonian musical ''"Slavonska rapsodija"'', which is based on authentic folklore. One of the things for which he will be best remembered is a children's song he wrote in 1954, about a rabbit and a frozen stream, for one of his events which was short of children's songs. Alfi Kabiljo
Alfons 'Alfi' Kabiljo (; born 22 December 1935 in Zagreb, Croatia) is a Croatian composer (music), composer and musician. He has been composing for over 60 years. During that time he has created an opus of more than 40 film and more than 100 episode soundtracks, eleven musical theatre, musicals, two musical films and two ballets. His musicals have been performed over 2000 times. He was taught music by the Croatian composer Rudolf Matz and later enrolled the Vatroslav Lisinski music school. Roger Samyn helped him brush up his composing skills. Although he received a degree on the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Zagreb, Alfi Kabiljo has never made use of it. He has spent most of his life in the Zagreb neighborhood of Šalata, although he stayed in Paris for a short while. Ruža Pospiš-Baldani (; born 25 July 1942) is a Croatian operatic mezzo-soprano. Baldani was born in Varaždinske Toplice and made her professional opera debut in 1961 at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb as Konchakovna in Alexander Borodin's ''Prince Igor''. She remained active at that theatre and at the National Theatre in Belgrade throughout the 1960s. In 1965 she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City as Maddalena in Giuseppe Verdi's ''Rigoletto''. From 1970-1978 she was committed to the Bavarian State Opera. LADO Folk Dance Ensemble
National Folk Dance Ensemble of Croatia LADO was founded in 1949 in Zagreb, SR Croatia, SFRY as a professional national ensemble. LADO represents the rich and diverse regional musical and choreographic traditions of Croatia. It has been called Croatia's most successful "cultural export product". The ensemble consists of 37 dancers who also sing while they perform, and a group of 15 musicians who play traditional and classical instruments. LADO has had numerous famous Croatian ethnographers and choreographers, music arrangers, and folklorists work with them.
