Pledgemusic
PledgeMusic was an online direct-to-fan music platform, launched in August 2009. It was started to facilitate musicians looking to pre-sell, market, and distribute projects, such as recordings and concerts. It bore similarities to other artist payment platforms as ArtistShare, Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Patreon, RocketHub and Sellaband. The company announced it was facing bankruptcy in May 2019, after a year of artists reporting slow payment problems. The company was granted permission to wind up on 19 August 2019. History Formation PledgeMusic was formed in the UK and registered with Companies House on 1 October 2008. In the next few years, a number of complementary companies were also formed under the PledgeMusic banner. Ginger Wildheart
Ginger Wildheart (born David Leslie Walls; 17 December 1964), sometimes known simply as Ginger, is an English rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He began his professional career as a guitarist in the Quireboys, but is best known as the founder and leader of the Wildhearts. In addition, he has released numerous solo albums and has been involved in many other musical projects. Career Early career Ginger played in many bands including South Shields band the Cups and Beki Bondage's band the Bombshells. He was a member of the English band the Quireboys from 1987 until 1989. After being sacked from the Quireboys, he was briefly in the New York band the Throbs, before going on to form the Wildhearts. He has led several incarnations of the Wildhearts since 1989. ''Tricks'' (stylized as ''TrickS'') is the fifth studio album by electro-industrial band ohGr. The album was funded via a PledgeMusic campaign and was released on June 18, 2018, after a number of delays. The band raised $20,000 within a few days of announcing their campaign. The band embarked on a North American tour alongside Paul Barker's Lead into Gold and Omniflux. In January 2019, producer Mark Walk told ''Billboard'' that PledgeMusic had owed the band $100,000 and that they had been unable to manufacture merchandise and fulfill orders since the album's release. Background Work on ''Tricks'' began as early as 2011, directly after the release of the band's fourth album, '' UnDeveloped'', and continued through 2018. OhGr
ohGr is a Canadian industrial band formed by Nivek Ogre and Mark Walk of Skinny Puppy. Early ohGr releases incorporated hip hop and synth-pop influences, and in contrast to Skinny Puppy, utilized conventional structures and a lighter tone. Ogre noted that this direction was inspired by the pop bands he enjoyed as a child, such as The Archies. However, in releases such as ''Devils in my Details'', ohGr has taken to a more abrasive, non-linear flavour of electro-industrial, while continuing to release pop albums such as 2018's '' Tricks''. The Digital Economy Act 2010 (c. 24) is an act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The act addresses media policy issues related to digital media, including copyright infringement, Internet domain names, Channel 4 media content, local radio and video games. Introduced to Parliament by Lord Mandelson on 20 November 2009, it received royal assent on 8 April 2010. Failure (band)
Failure is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles that was active from 1990 to 1997 and again from 2014 to the present. Failure is recognized for being one of the standouts of 1990's Space Rock, with a focus on compounded guitar effects, uncommon melodies, and an emphasis on substance over style. Failure was a lesser-recognized band who started off with their initial release ''Comfort'' presumed by many at the time as a post-grunge release. They struggled to get airplay on radio until their third album was released, ''Fantastic Planet''. The self-produced and self-mastered album (while remaining distributed through Slash Records) received little promotion but critical acclaim and began to chart on US Alt Rock radio only for the group to disband shortly after Lollapalooza 1997.
