Forlì
Forlì ( ; ; ; ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) and city in Emilia-Romagna, Northern Italy, and is, together with Cesena, the capital of the Province of Forlì-Cesena.The city is situated along the Via Emilia, to the east of the Montone river, and is an important agricultural centre. Girolamo Marchesi
Girolamo Marchesi (c. 1471 – 1550) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance period. Born in Cotignola, whence his nickname of ''Girolamo da Cotignola'', he trained early on with Francesco Francia in Bologna, then in Rome under Raphael. He then traveled to Naples where he was patronized by the Florentine merchant Tommaso Cambi. According to Giorgio Vasari, he married a woman of ill repute there. In Ferrara he left an ''Adoration of the Magi'', and in the church of Santa Maria in Vado, a painting of two saints (1518). He painted with Biagio Pappini in San Michele in Bosco in Bologna. In Rimini, he painted with Benedetto Coda and Lattanzio della Marca, but the location and fate of those paintings can is unknown. He also painted in Forlì and Pesaro. The Pinacoteca di Brera ("Brera Art Gallery") is the main public gallery for paintings in Milan, Italy. It contains one of the foremost collections of Italian paintings from the 13th to the 20th century, an outgrowth of the cultural program of the Brera Academy, which shares the site in the Palazzo Brera. History The Palazzo Brera owes its name to the Germanic ''braida'', indicating a grassy opening in the city structure: compare the ''Bra'' of Verona. The convent on the site passed to the Jesuits (1572), then underwent a radical rebuilding by Francesco Maria Richini (1627–28). Tommaso Salini
Tommaso Salini (1575 – 13 September 1625), also known as Mao Salini, was an Italian painter of the early-Baroque period, active in Rome. He is best remembered for defending his friend, Giovanni Baglione, in his libel suit against Caravaggio and other painters in his circle. Baglioni describes his still life paintings. He joined the Accademia di San Luca in 1605. Salini is a frequently forgotten Baroque artist who fell under the spell of Caravaggio, despite having a tempestuous relationship with the great painter. Salini, known as "Mao", was a friend of Giovanni Baglione, the Italian art biographer, who included Salini in his ''Le vite de’ pittori.'' Adolfo Wildt
Adolfo Wildt (1 March 1868 – 12 March 1931) was an Italian sculptor. He is mostly known for his marble sculptures, which blend simplicity and sophistication, and paved the way for numerous modernist sculptors. Early life Wildt was born in Milan to a Swiss family who had settled in Lombardy. He left school at age nine to work as a hairdresser and then as a goldsmith. At eleven he began an apprenticeship in the workshop of Giuseppe Grandi, who introduced him to the craft of sculpting marble. His technical ability made him popular within art circles by the age of eighteen. In 1888 he started to work as an assistant for sculptor Federico Villa. Marco Palmezzano
Marco Palmezzano (1460–1539) was an Italian painter and architect, belonging to the Forlì painting school, who painted in a style recalling earlier Northern Renaissance models. He was mostly active near Forlì. Biography Palmezzano was born and died in Forlì, Romagna. After his initial training with the painter Melozzo da Forlì — who had collaborated with Piero della Francesca and was widely esteemed as a master of perspective and foreshortening techniques— Palmezzano went to Rome in the early 1490s. It is rumored that Palmezzano may have then traveled to Jerusalem to join the team painting frescoes at the Holy Cross church there, but no documentary evidence exists. He is, however, noted in property records as residing in Venice in 1495.
