Aleksander Ford
Aleksander Ford (born Mosze Lifszyc; 24 November 1908 in Kiev, Russian Empire – 4 April 1980 in Naples, Florida, United States, U.S.) was a Polish film director and head of the Polish People's Army of Poland, People's Army Film Crew in the Soviet Union during World War II. Following the war, he was appointed director of the Film Polski company. In 1948 he was appointed a professor of the National Film School in Łódź (Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Filmowa). Roman Polanski and Polish film director Andrzej Wajda were among his students. Amid an anti-Semitic purge in the Polish United Workers' Party, communist party in Poland, Ford was stopped from preparing a film on the life of a Jewish educator. Shortly afterwards he emigrated to Israel in 1968 and from there to the United States, going through West Germany, Germany and Denmark. Mikhail Ivanovich Pugovkin (; 13 July 1923 — 25 July 2008) was a Soviet and Russian comic actor named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1988. He studied in the Moscow Art Theatre school under Ivan Moskvin, took part in World War II and, following demobilisation, was featured in the 1944 all-star cast adaptation of Anton Chekhov's '' The Wedding''. Another step to stardom was the 1967 comedy ''Wedding in Malinovka''. Pugovkin went on to appear in more than 100 films. His roles in Leonid Gaidai's comedies, such as '' Operation Y and Other Shurik's Adventures'' (1965), '' Twelve Chairs'' (1971), '' Ivan Vasilievich: Back to the Future'' (1973) and ''Borrowing Matchsticks'' (1980) made him one of the most popular comedians of the former Soviet Union. Vsevolod Vasilyevich Sanayev (; 25 February 1912, Tula – 27 January 1996, Moscow) was a USSR, Soviet film and stage actor popular in the 1960s–1970s. Sanayev, a Moscow Art Theatre (and later Mossovet Theatre) actor, was honored in 1969 with the People's Artist of the USSR title; among his other accolades are the Order of Lenin (1971) and the Order of the October Revolution (1981). Biography Vsevolod Sanayev was born in Tula. From 1926 to 1930 he worked as a Bayan (accordion), bayan technician at the Tula factory of musical instruments. After a short stint at a local theatre, in 1931 he was invited to join the Tula-based Gorky Theatre of Drama and Comedy and soon enrolled in the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts. After the graduation in 1937 he joined the Moscow Art Theatre troupe.
