Phipps Bridge Tram Stop
Phipps Bridge tram stop is a stop on the Tramlink service in the London Borough of Merton. The stop is named after Phipps Bridge Road, an adjacent residential street. The tram stop consists of a single island platform. Immediately to the west of the station is a single-track section which reaches as far as Morden Road tram stop. To the east, double track continues to the nearby Belgrave Walk tram stop, which is clearly visible from Phipps Bridge tram stop. Access to the platform is via pedestrian level crossings over the tracks. To the north a footpath gives access to Phipps Bridge Road. To the south, a gateway gives pedestrian access to the National Trust's Morden Hall Park, which borders the line to the south for a considerable distance each side of the stop. Tramlink
Tramlink, previously Croydon Tramlink and currently branded as London Trams, is a light rail tram system serving Croydon and surrounding areas in South London, England. It is the first operational tram system serving the London region since 1952. Morden Road is a Tramlink stop in the London Borough of Merton. It is on the site of the former Morden Road railway station on the Wimbledon-West Croydon line, which closed to rail traffic in 1997. The tram stop consists of two platforms on either side of the double track, linked by pedestrian level crossings. Immediately to the east of the station is a single-track section which reaches as far as Phipps Bridge tram stop. The eastbound platform is directly linked by ramp and stairway to Morden Road. The town centre of Morden lies to the south. A pedestrian entrance to the National Trust's Morden Hall Park is on Morden Road just to the south of the stop. The National Trust () is a heritage and nature conservation charity and membership organisation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Morden Hall Park
Morden Hall Park is a National Trust park on the banks of the Wandle in Morden, south London. Its several buildings and associated parking included, it is of predominantly parkland. Hinting at the former mill leats the river here splits into channels, generally, through it spanned by numerous footbridges. The estate contains Morden Hall itself, Morden Cottage, two well-preserved snuff watermills, a restored stableyard, a dog-friendly café, exhibition space and second-hand bookshop. A western part, separately accessed, hosts the National Trust's only Garden Centre. History The estate land was originally owned by Westminster Abbey. Bombardier CR4000
The Bombardier CR4000 is a 76% low floor model of the Bombardier Flexity Swift trams operated by Tramlink in London. They are based on and very similar in appearance to the K4000 used on the low-platform routes of the Cologne Stadtbahn network. Built between 1998 and 2000, the trams entered service in the spring of 2000. History 24 trams were ordered from Bombardier Transportation and built at its factory in Vienna, Austria between 1998 and 2000. The first tram, 2530, was delivered to Therapia Lane depot on 13 September 1998, with testing beginning soon afterwards. The Stadler Variobahn (formerly sold as the ABB Variotram, Adtranz Variotram and Bombardier Variotram) is a German-designed model of articulated low-floor tram and light rail vehicle.
