Peumo Valley
Peumo is a Chilean city and commune in Cachapoal Province, O'Higgins Region. It is believed that Peumo was named for the vast amount of Cryptocarya alba, or Peumo trees, that grow there. Demographics According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Peumo spans an area of and has 13,948 inhabitants (7,128 men and 6,820 women). Of these, 7,628 (54.7%) lived in urban areas and 6,320 (45.3%) in rural areas. The population grew by 8.6% (1,105 persons) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses. Administration As a commune, Peumo is a third-level administrative division of Chile administered by a municipal council, headed by an alcalde who is directly elected every four years. Andrés Chadwick
Andrés Pío Bernardino Chadwick Piñera (born 2 January 1956) is a Chilean right-wing politician and lawyer, member of the Independent Democrat Union (UDI) party. He began his political career as a supporter of the Pinochet dictatorship, and was present at the Acto de Chacarillas in 1977. Chadwick was elected deputy for the District #33 in 1989, and was re-elected in 1993. Chimbarongo, Chile, is a city and commune located south of Santiago in the Colchagua Province of the O'Higgins Region. Many of the people of Chimbarongo make their living weaving wickerwork, ''mimbre'', baskets. San Fernando, Chile
San Fernando is the capital of the province of Colchagua, in central Chile, and the second most populated urban center of the O'Higgins Region. Located close to the Tinguiririca River (a tributary of the Rapel) in a fertile valley, San Fernando sits 339 m (1,112 feet) above sea level.
