Pennsylvania's 4th Congressional District (since 2023)
Pennsylvania's fourth congressional district, effective January 3, 2023, encompasses the majority of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Montgomery County and most of Berks County, Pennsylvania, Berks County northeast of Reading, Pennsylvania, Reading in southeastern Pennsylvania. In the 2020 United States redistricting cycle, 2020 redistricting cycle, the Pennsylvania's congressional districts, Pennsylvania district pushed northwards, further into Berks County, Pennsylvania, Berks County, effective with the 2022 elections. The area has been represented by Democrat Madeleine Dean since 2019. Joe Torsella
Joseph M. Torsella (born October 8, 1963) is an American politician and former diplomat, who served as the Pennsylvania Treasurer from 2017 to 2021. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Torsella was the U.S. Representative to the United Nations for Management and Reform (with the rank of ambassador) from 2011 to 2014. He previously was President and CEO of the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia from 1997 to 2003 and again from 2006 to 2008. He was the Chairman of the Pennsylvania State Board of Education from 2008 through 2011. The Pennsylvania Treasurer election of 2016 was held on November 8, 2016. Incumbent Tim Reese was eligible to run, but decided not to. The Democratic and Republican primary election was held on April 26, 2016, with each candidate running unopposed in their respective primaries. Joshua David Shapiro (born June 20, 1973) is an American lawyer and politician who has served as the 48th governor of Pennsylvania since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, he was the attorney general of Pennsylvania from 2017 to 2023 and was on the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners from 2012 to 2017. Raised in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Shapiro studied political science at the University of Rochester and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University. After that, he worked as a senior adviser to U.S. senator Robert Torricelli. Kathleen Alana McGinty (born May 11, 1963) is a retired American politician and former state and federal environmental policy official. She served as an environmental advisor to Vice President Al Gore and President Bill Clinton. Later, she served as Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection in the cabinet of Governor Ed Rendell. Prior to the nomination of Lisa P. Jackson, she was mentioned as a possible United States Environmental Protection Agency Administrator under President Barack Obama, as well as a possible candidate to succeed Ed Rendell as Governor of Pennsylvania, but was not a candidate in the 2010 election.
