Pedro Rodríguez Iglesias (born 20 January 2008) is a Spanish footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for Barcelona. Club career Born in Ogíjares in Spain's Province of Granada, Rodríguez began his career with local club Ogíjares 89 before joining the academy of Granada. In 2019, at the age of eleven, he moved to Barcelona's ''La Masia'' academy. Having struggled initially to settle, the suspension of football due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain meant that he returned to play in the club's under-14 side under coach Albert Puig, where he showed rapid improvement. He signed a new contract with the club on 4 June 2024, reportedly rejecting offers from other European clubs in the process. Ogíjares
Ogíjares is a municipality located in the central-southern part of the province of Granada, Spain. According to the 2005 census ( INE), the city had a population of 11,877 inhabitants. Geography Ogíjares is located in the center of a fertile plain, watered by irrigation from the Monachil and Dílar rivers. History Ogíjares had its origins as two small Arab farming villages, although utensils and interments from the Visigoths and as far back as the Neolithic have been found locally. The name comes from the Latin phrase "Hortum Sacrum", which translated in Arabic became ''Ortexica'', and then ''Oxijar''. With the Christian conquest of Granada, the two villages became known as High Ogíjar and Low Ogíjar, finally united into what today is Ogíjares. Like many nearby municipalities, Ogíjares has become a suburb of nearby Granada. Copa del Rey Juvenil de Fútbol is an annual youth football tournament in Spain, which is contested by 32 teams from the División de Honor Juvenil. It is organised by the RFEF. The 2024–25 Primera Federación, also known as Primera Federación Versus e-Learning due to sponsorship reasons, is the fourth for the Primera Federación, the third-highest level in the Spanish football league system. Forty teams will participate, divided into two groups of twenty clubs each based on geographical proximity. In each group, the champions are automatically promoted to Segunda División and the second to fifth placers will play promotion play-offs and the bottom five are relegated to the Segunda Federación.
