Daniel Rickenmann (born 1969/1970) is an American businessman and politician, serving as the 71st Mayor of Columbia, South Carolina. Early life and education Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Rickenmann is the son of immigrants from Switzerland. He attended the University of South Carolina in 1987. Political career 2025 Mayoral election In March 2025, Mayor Rickenmann announced his bid for re-election. 2021 Mayoral election After confirmation on February 2021 that incumbent Mayor Stephen K. Benjamin would not seek re-election, Rickenmann announced his bid for the office. John Taylor (South Carolina Governor)
John Taylor (May 4, 1770April 16, 1832) was the 51st Governor of South Carolina from 1826 to 1828. Career He was born May 4, 1770, in Granby, South Carolina, Granby in the Province of South Carolina. He attended Mt. Zion Institute High School, Mount Zion Institute in Winnsboro, South Carolina, and graduated in 1790 from the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University) and became a lawyer. He opened his practice in Columbia but also had farming interests. After school, Taylor served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1796 to 1802 and again from 1804 to 1805. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1807, and served there until he became a U.S. Senator in 1810 filling the vacancy left by Thomas Sumter. Abraham Nott (February 5, 1768June 19, 1830) was a United States representative from South Carolina and a slaveholder. Born in Saybrook in the Connecticut Colony, he was educated in early life by a private teacher. He graduated from Yale College in 1787 and in 1788 moved to McIntosh County, Georgia, where he became a private tutor for one year. He moved to Camden, South Carolina, in 1789. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1791, beginning to practice in Union, South Carolina. He was a member of South Carolina House of Representatives from 1796 to 1797, and was elected as a Federalist to the Sixth United States Congress, serving from March 4, 1799, to March 3, 1801. Fitz William McMaster (March 23, 1826 – September 10, 1899) was an American lawyer and politician.
