Past Masters
''Past Masters'' is a two-disc compilation album set by the English rock band the Beatles. It was originally released as two separate volumes on 7 March 1988, as part of the first issue of the band's catalogue on compact disc. The album contains all songs released commercially by the band that were not available on the Beatles' 12 original UK albums or the US '' Magical Mystery Tour'' LP. It was compiled by Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn, who also wrote the liner notes. The majority of the ''Past Masters'' set consists of A- and B-sides from the band's singles, including single versions of songs that appeared in a different form on the band's albums. Also included are the full contents of the UK-only '' Long Tall Sally'' EP, two German-language tracks, a song recorded for the American market, and a track released on a charity compilation album. The Beatles (The Original Studio Recordings)
''The Beatles (The Original Studio Recordings)'', also known as ''The Beatles: Stereo Box Set'', is a box set compilation comprising all remastered recordings by English rock band the Beatles. The set was issued on 9 September 2009, along with the remastered mono recordings and companion '' The Beatles in Mono'' and '' The Beatles: Rock Band'' video game. The remastering project for both mono and stereo versions was led by EMI senior studio engineers Allan Rouse and Guy Massey. The ''Stereo Box'' also features a DVD which contains all the short films that are on the CDs in QuickTime format. Long Tall Sally (EP)
''Long Tall Sally'' is the fifth UK EP release by the English rock band the Beatles and the band's first UK EP to include songs not previously released on an album or single in the United Kingdom. (Side 1 had been released in America that April, on ''The Beatles' Second Album'', while Side 2 would be released in July on the North American album '' Something New''.) It was released by Parlophone in mono, with the catalogue number GEP 8913, and released in the United Kingdom on 19 June 1964. It was also released in Spain and France. The A-side and B-side are the two sides of vinyl records and cassettes, and the terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side of a single usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay, with the aim of it becoming a hit record. The B-side (or "flip-side") is a secondary recording that typically receives less attention, although some B-sides have been as successful as, or more so than, their A-sides. The LP (from long playing or long play) is an Analog recording, analog sound storage medium, specifically a phonograph record format characterized by: a speed of revolutions per minute, rpm; a 12- or 10-inch (30- or 25-cm) diameter; use of the "microgroove" groove specification; and a vinyl (a copolymer of vinyl chloride acetate) composition disk. ''Magical Mystery Tour'' is a record by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as a double EP in the United Kingdom and an LP in the United States. It includes the soundtrack to the 1967 television film of the same title. The EP was issued in the UK on 8 December 1967 on the Parlophone label, while the Capitol Records LP release in the US and Canada occurred on 27 November and features an additional five songs that were originally released as singles that year.
