Canelones Department
The Departamento de Canelones ( es, Departamento de Canelones; ) is one of the 19 uruguayan departments. With an area of and 518,154 inhabitants, it is located in the south of Uruguay. Its capital is Canelones. Geography and climate Neighbouring departments are Maldonado and Lavalleja to the East, Florida to the North, San José to the West, and Montevideo to the South. Part of the southern border is formed by the Río de la Plata. It is the second smallest department of the country after that of Montevideo, but the second largest in population. Ruta Interbalnearia
Ruta Interbalnearia (which means Inter-resort Route) or Ruta Líber Seregni is a national route of Uruguay. It connects Montevideo with Punta del Este to the east along the coast. The road is approximately in length. It is marked on maps and signs as IB. The distance notation along Ruta Interbalnearia uses the same Kilometre Zero reference as Routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 which is the Pillar of Peace of Plaza de Cagancha in the Centro of Montevideo. Ciudad De La Costa
Ciudad de la Costa is a city in Canelones Department of Uruguay, on the banks of the Río de la Plata between the streams Arroyo Carrasco and Arroyo Pando. It is considered an extension of the metropolitan area of Montevideo which it borders to the west, while to the east it borders Costa de Oro. It was declared a city on 19 October 1994 and given its current name. At the 2011 census, it was the second most populated city of Uruguay between Montevideo and Salto. Ciudad de la Costa is also the name of the municipality to which the city belongs, but which does not include the area of Barra de Carrasco. Ladislao Mazurkiewicz Iglesias (; 14 February 1945 – 2 January 2013) was a Uruguayan footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Career Mazurkiewicz helped the Uruguay national team qualify for the semifinals of the 1970 World Cup, where the ''charrúas'' were stopped by the eventual champion, Brazil. He was elected the best goalkeeper of that tournament. He also played for the Brazilian side Atlético Mineiro. During his international career (1965–74), he earned a total of 37 appearances with the national team of his native Uruguay. He coached Peñarol from 1988–89. Personal life Mazurkiewicz's father was Polish and his mother Spanish. Though of Polish ancestry, he did not know Polish and never visited Poland. Death Mazurkiewicz died on 2 January 2013 in Montevideo, Uruguay, aged 67, from undisclosed causes. He is buried at Parque del Recuerdo cemetery.
